The Door Slams on Maxi's Nose!
Yep, Maxi's right! I found "a few" reviews to support the idea of
buying the new luxury van from Kia, even though we could get a Honda for the same price! Here are just a few! Good work, Maxi! http://car-reviews.automobile.com/Ki...oad-test/1563/ http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/pw/06sedona.htm http://www.autobytel.com/content/sha...a/Year_si/2006 http://research.cars.com/go/crp/rese...&year=20 06&r http://www.epinions.com/pr-2006_Kia_Sedona Ahhh...here's yet another one from newcartestdrive.com The all-new Kia Sedona is a great-looking minivan with a V6 engine having the most power in the class, and a suspension that's second to none. The interior is well thought out, with standard seven-passenger seating, easily convertible to a carpeted cargo van, while providing an abundance of storage compartments. The Sedona lacks nothing, except all-wheel drive. It sends a clear signal that the Korean carmaker intends to be a player, and it proves that Kia has the engineering expertise to build excellent cars. And Motorweek says.... When introduced for 2002, the first Sedona signaled that Kia was much more than just a small car builder. Now, with solid engineering, great safety and versatility, the 2006 Sedona puts Kia among the leaders in the very demanding minivan segment. http://www.mpt.org/motorweek/reviews/rt2531b.shtml Oh, but they go on and on.... http://www.myhonestmechanic.com/arti...a-sedona.shtml And what do owners have to say....about the highest rated van? 9.7 out of 10 satisfaction rating! http://autos.msn.com/research/userre...?modelid=12019 http://www.edmunds.com/new/2006/kia/..._consumer.html Yep...just a few. Want more, Maxi? http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/kia_s...ork%2Fcpc%2FPI And be sure to read this.... http://www.carseek.com/reviews/?article=3411&page=4 And Kia Lands a Knockout! http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/...py?artid=52789 Maxi appears to be reading old issues of Car & Driver and fancies himself a car enthusiast while driving a 3 series...the bottom of the BMW barrel. Try my STI, maxi! AWD and 0-60 and grip your sad toy car can only dream of! Capt RB 35s5 NY |

Kia has in the past had a few major dramas, the Carnival sold here
was subject to serious engine seal failure resulting in about 90% of owners having a new engine fitted under warranty within the first 2 years of ownership. The 2002-2005 Sedona was a mixed bag here. It offered a lot of value but had a problem ratio much like the Caravan/Voyager, which is to say pretty awful. Thus far the new Sedona, using Kia's best engine here, seems to be a killer van. They are selling a lot, even to previous Honda and Toyota owners. The Koreans clearly mean business and are chipping away at the massive Toyota market share. I seriously doubt that the Sedona will hold up as well as a Sienna. It's too new and has too many little techno-options, but the warranty should protect that end. 2009 will see Hyundai/Kia's full on attack on the BMW and Mercedes mid class. Sadly, the price of the Hyundai-Kia's are not so cheap anymore. I still think a minivan should be 18-22K being a box on wheels, so spending 30-40K on one seems crazy. I have to admit that the loaded Sedona along with the Sienna are truly plush rides though, easily a match for my Tribeca, but beating the Subaru for power and features of course. RB 35s5 NY |

You have made a respectable choice Bubbles. Some would find the failures deplorable but the impact has been the exact opposite here. Kia sales have jumped because people now realise that they are not a fly by night operation and stand firmly bhind their prduct.....clad of course in in a boiler suit to prevent oil stains ruining the execs fine silk business suits ;-) If they sell a cheap car and make good on warranty, then it makes more sense than to buy a "prestige" car which may or may not work well. Of course, if Bubbles really bought a Kia then that automatically makes it a stupid thing to do. "Capt. Rob" scribbled thusly: Yep, Maxi's right! Can't you make a decision without media input, Bubbles? Do you really think these "reviews" are anything other than advertising? Are you really modeling your whole life after 'Death Of A Salesman'? Are you really modeling your whole life after
'Death Of A Salesman'? Calm down, Biff. You're the guy who had a chance to buy a nice sailboat and you traded it in for a trawler. I do know someone else who did the same thing, but he has a plastic and metal knee and the other is partially fused. RB 35s5 NY |

Another drawback is gas mileage, only 15 in the city they
use a LOT of cast iron on the front subframe. Uh, Joe...you've made a fool of yourself again. You're looking at the old Sedona, which did in fact suck! Edmunds gave the 2006 Sedona a good review and the old version got 15 MPG n the city. The new model is all new..gets 17-25 MPG (So far we got 23MPG on the highway) and she's not broken in yet. Other owners are seeing 25-27 MPG. You got BUSTED AGAIN, Joe! Here's what your beloved Edmunds has to say.... "We'd faulted the previous-generation Sedona for its less-than-impressive power and poor gas mileage. This year, Kia addresses these shortcomings by reducing the van's curb weight by 400 pounds and installing a new 244-hp 3.8-liter V6 under the hood. As a result, the 2006 Sedona's fuel economy rating is 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway, which is a bit better than the 2005 model's 16/22 mpg city/highway. Ride and handling is also improved, thanks to a new independent rear suspension. With its larger interior, additional features and improved driving dynamics, the 2006 Kia Sedona no longer feels the low-cost compromise in the minivan segment. What Edmunds.com Says Packed with safety and comfort features and priced less than some competing minivans, the 2006 Kia Sedona is an excellent choice for families on a budget. Pros Smooth and quiet ride, comfortable interior with lots of cupholders and storage bins, solid build quality, lengthy warranty coverage. Cons Handling and steering response could be better, cramped third row. What's New for 2006 The Kia Sedona is all-new for 2006. It's longer and wider than its predecessor, with a nearly 15-percent improvement in passenger room. Horsepower is up 49 from the previous generation thanks to a new 3.8-liter, 244-hp V6. The Sedona's standard features list has been expanded to include fold-flat third-row seating; power-sliding doors and a power liftgate have been added as options. ABS and traction control are now standard, along with front side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags for all three rows. RB 35s5 NY |

Therefor one might sensibly logically assume that I still have "the chance" to buy one. As for trading in a sailboat, in the sense of returning one to a dealer for credit on another purchase, I have never done that. In fact I have only ever bought one sailboat from a broker. ... I do know someone else who did the same thing, but he has a plastic and metal knee and the other is partially fused. In your imagination, I'm sure. DSK |

same thing, but he has a plastic and metal knee and the other is
partially fused. In your imagination, I'm sure. His name is Johnny Perry and he now owns a Grand Banks 42, Doug. She does close to 20 knots and I've piloted her a couple of times in CT. Prior to that he owned a Stone Horse (which I sold for him) and a Ericson Independence 31. He was about to buy the larger Independence for a restoration project but his knees just got too bad for it. Not likely to be as good as other makes such as Honda or Toyota. But we'll keep this as a utility vehicle for a long while as with the Outback. RB 35s5 NY |

Has had no problems , so far. The little Kia's are death traps. I guess you don't care much about your son. Kia Sedona: Rated as the SAFEST MINIVAN tested. RB 35s5 NY |
