Hows about a Tahiti Ketch? Not off the rack but there are many of them
still out there.

A very Nice boat Nutsy,

I've sailed a Bristol, Yawl Rigged with a 150 furling head sail. It may
be a little tender for long off-shore work but would do the job.

I myself would prefer a Lyle Hess Cutter Rigged, Much more comfortable
and capable of standing up to tough going.

I also would not turn my nose up at a Gulf32. Getting close to the top
of you range but Cutter Rigged it would be a match for almost any other
boat in that range and as comfortable as anything in that range. With
the Inside Helm for sure.

Joe,

Nice Boat but three thing makes me say NO right off, The Bow Sprit (Bad
Acess to jib Tack) The Boomkin ( Same as Jib) and the Gaff Rig. ( TO
much weight aloft and a PITA to handle in rough going)

That's certainly a boat favored for real crusing.
The reason I'm asking is that I have a client who came to me seeking a
boat for a trip to Ireland. I showed him a Cape Dory 30, which is
capable with some changes, but he found it too small. No problem, I
told him. I'd find something else. But actually I'm seeing very little
in the full keel budget ocean crossing cruisers around here.

Just come down to my Coast and look around. Anything still floating
can make the trip.
