From Wikipedia:
The earliest snowmobiles were modified Ford Model Ts with the
undercarriage replaced with tracks and skis. They were popular for
rural mail delivery for a time. This early history [1] can be traced
to Carl Eliason [2] in Saynor, Wisconsin with his first hand built
model completed in 1924. He was granted a U.S. patent in 1927.
Polaris Industries in Roseau, Minnesota, in the United States
Midwest, was a pioneer in the production of purpose-built snowmobiles.

What?

occasionally a few dumb Yank's with guns.

Oh Pulee-e-e-e-z-z-z-e

I lived in the Arctic much longer than Nova Scotia!

I've been on more snowmobiles than anyone here... more quads as well.

Everyone knows that Bombardier produced the first tracked snowmobile.

To discuss this with Americans is to lower yourself to provide plausibility
to their delusions that they might have a leg to stand on with their pitiful
wails of ski fitted Model Ts...

Hogwash I say.... they believe dogsleds were the sole domain of the Inuit
yet we Canadians know the Dene had dog teams for as long a time...

Let them prattle on with their ignorance... it amuses me. :-)

"..we Canadians.."? You have stated in the past that you have not
become a Canadian national. Did you lie?
Facts are facts, Bosco....Bombardier built upon an established
entity...and what faulty logic dictates that just because you have
ridden on or used snowmobiles more than anyone here (and I doubt
that knowing the history of some of the subscribers to this group)
means you have anything to do with the origin of snowmobiles?

Sure Kitty... what ever makes you happy. If you want to live in an imaginary
world where Americans invented the snowmobile... who am I to argue. It's not
like I expect logic from woman......

You're just a legend in your own mind.

Everyone knows that Bombardier produced the first tracked snowmobile.

Everyone north of the US-Canada border, that is. The rest of the world
knows the truth.

So, you're saying that Polaris is not a bona fide snowmobile manufacturer?

More correctly I believe they *ate* dogs for as long a time.

There is one thing Cannucks did invent--denial.

A Chapel was built in the midst,

So I turned to the Garden of Love
