Both are to weak to hold you Bob if you fall.
I suggest you install 42 " stainless steel handrails like you see on
real boats.
If you would like it to be safe for Lil Thom then you need to net the
rails, use nylon webbing it has the best qualities. The netting is
great when you are washed across the deck.

Here is a boat with stainless hand rails that could even hold your
massive weight.
