Hey, LP--

Have you ever had the opportunity to take a ride in, or fly, an L-39
Albatross? Just curious. I'd love to own one if they weren't so
impractical.

Hi Max,
No, I haven't ever had the opportunity to fly in one yet. A millionaire had
one at Tulsa International where I had an office for years. There's
supposed to be another one at Sundance Airpark in NW OKC. I think a doctor
owns that one.
In 1998 there were only 5 in the U.S. (private buyers).

Many sailors at the Wednesday night races this summer had their own aircraft
or a big interest in them. Funny how sailing and flying kind of go
together.

True! That's why I have a membership at the gym and a very nice treadmill
at home.

I also jog at the park and play tennis and golf when I get a chance. Not to
mention other activities...

Hey loser it's a fact, I promised him use of my 35s5 for a couple hours
as a trade.
He's a hip person like me, he got a subie outback..it's hot.

I've flown more tail draggers then you have ever seen LP, and I'm not
talking about worn out sailors.

And the S-330 can do over 20 G's before the wings snap and I heard them
cracking today.

Bwawhahahaahaaa. Boy, did the pilot ever get the shaft on that deal. (Which
we know it didn't, because it never happened)

He's a hip person like me, he got a subie outback..it's hot.

Was she driving it hard through the clogged streets of New York?
Did them temperature light come on? heh

Beech 18 tail-wheelers

and I'm not
talking about worn out sailors.

You'd be the first not to in this new gay asa....

S-u-r-e. And where was the testing done to see how many g's this aircraft

We like air/wind and all the things one can do with it/them.

I've got a ride in an L-39 coming up this spring. Can hardly wait. There
are quite a few for sale these days, but most still have instruments with
Cyrillic numerals and letters.

Seems to me that in this case, close is close enough. :-)

I'm envious! Good for you. Be sure and take some pictures and give us a
report when you get back. I hope you are buffed for the experience, you
will enjoy it much more if you are in good physical shape.

Not really surprised about the instruments. Where are you going to have
this little adventure? In Gadsden, Alabama?

A friend in Oshkosh, WI, owns one. He picked it up from a California gent
about a year ago. It has been completely restored with instruments in
English and Arabic numerals. It is painted in an attractive silver metallic
and the interior is essentially olive drab. The engine is relatively low
time. The previous owner had a hot section done the year he bought it, and
then did a major the following year. My friend is not particularly adept at
aerobatics, but I am. I'm hoping he'll allow me to show off a bit.
