Spinnaker Query
Anyone ever heard of a spinnaker or light air sail called a "Fat Cat?"
Someone gave me a J boat sail and it reads Fat Cat .7 ounce. No, the boat was not named "Fat Cat." RB 35s5 NY |

RB 35s5 NY It's a reaching spinnaker with radial heads and radial clews. You putting it on e-bay? What size is it? Joe |

You putting it on e-bay? What size is it? It's BIG, from a J35. I already have a spinnaker up on ebay...I have to get the measurements, a real pain without dragging it to a loft. I have about 15-20 sails from various boats, all in good to great shape. Try... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT Or item # 4606254825 RB 35s5 NY |

45.5 hoist, 24.2 at the foot. I also have a larger spinnaker, but have not measured it yet. RB 35s5 NY |

About 5 ft to short, and 6 to narrow.
I'm getting a bid for a new 1 ounce red and yellow spinnaker from Quantum Sails. They did a good job building all my other sails. Bit more expensive then most but worth it. Joe |

At my yard we ordered sails for customers, and shopped around. Quantum was the cheapest. We ended up splitting the job between UK and Doyle because they are local. If you're paying "more" for a Quantum sail, you didn't do a good job when placing the order. RB 35s5 NY |

Hey Nutsy;
Here is a trick I've learned. I have a 40' Alum. extension ladder & a 12' 2X4. I've attached a cheap Galv. block to the end of the 2X4 and clamp it to the upper section of the Ladder. I can hoist the ladder, tied to the lee side of the house, and with a cheap section of cloth-line can hoist the sail to proper height. I use it to set rubber bands to make a sausage out of my sail that isn't in a sock. Suggest you do the same. The wind will raise hell with an unfurled sail as it clears the roof. Cheap and easy way to handle sails off the boat. By the way. I brought the ladder to go up the mast without being hoisted in a bosun chair. Works great!! Makes inspecting fore and aft and shroud fittings a snap, as well as the halyard pulleys. http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage http://community.webtv.net/tassail/Pneuma |

More than Nyle Pryde and Cameron, less than UK. Better than Doyle

Joe,. you sound very uninformed when saying things like "better than Doyle." Have you used the Doyle lofts at City Island or Florida? If so what did you find substandard about their work? RB 35s5 NY |
