Well, we've finally stopped traipsing around the country and have landed
in Virginia. Boat is still down in Pamlico Sound area until we can find a
marina closer to the new digs. Weather here is balmy today...was
66F....beats Michigan, that's for sure, even though she was kind to us
when we went home for the holidays and didn't blizzard on us or anything.
I'm not even going to attempt to catch up with the 5500 messages so am
going to start from scratch....anything interesting going on?

Hi Katy and Amen! Reading here is a full time job.
I'm constantly amazed (and a bit jealous) by the amount of time some people
have to post.
Thanks to my investment in an Evelyn Woodhead speed reading class, I can
read all and remember nothing. It's probably all for the better.

Glad you had a good trip and are safely back.

Ol' Thom is selling his boat, so from now on we'll have extra crew. We
have a new electronics expert whom I hope will stick around at least
part time. Haven't heard from Tadpole in a long time, can you lure him
back?

Please don't jinx the weather, I still have some fiberglassing to do on
our deck! And belated Happy New Year to yourself, to Mr. Sails, and
Chopper.

Fresh Breeze- Doug King

Thanks, Doug. Supposed to be 68 today and 70 tomorrow so hurry up
and get it done!

Hi, All and a belated Happy New Year!

Katy,

No I haven't sold "Pnuema" yet. Still in the process of cleaning her up.
The For Sale sign is on her and she is in the Brokers hands.

The Broker has been more than busy with the "Seattle Boat Show" which
was pushed up a month due to the Sea Hawks play-off status.

Katy, we just can't talk our way out of the Birthdays and the MG. I
can't enjoy sailing and boat maintenance any more. It's that time to hit
the Beach.

Glad you and Hubby are enjoying the "Live Aboard" life. You've both
earned it.

LIVE IT UP!

Thom, you old fart . . .

Want some cheese with your whine?

If you had a decent boat that wasn't such a dog perhaps you'd be
sailing instead of complaining. . . It's not age that's keeping you
from sailing, rather it's the chore of sailing a slowcoach. Why not use
the money you get from the Gulf (and add about 20 grand) to it and
purchase a nice, handy Mac26X? How much did the broker have to reduce
the selling price under BUC due to that butchered keel?

Stopped into a library to check e-mail on the way to the store to stock
up on provisions for my extended cruise and what do I find in the
newsgroup but the usual passel of pretenders. Sad, so sad!

You'd think some people (considering what happened to a granddaughter)
would eschew trucks and sail their boat to a new location. But NOOOOOO!

Don't bother replying to this post because I won't be back on the
Internet for weeks or months. Since I'm off cruising, alt.sailing.asa
is a vast wannabe wasteland again. Even the Boobster has lost his
touch.

Respectfully,
Capt. Neal

We used a registered, recognized boat transfer outfit. Boat

went
down on her own cradle with jack stands attached to the rig for
stability. I packed the boat full of our stuff and not one

thing
shifted or broke. Being deep draft, we have to watch where

we're
going...lots of shallow places down here. The tides are

minimal
where the boat is...mostly wind driven alluvial flow...if we

bring
her to VA we'll have to cope with much larger tidal flow.

We're
also on a floating dock system, which is great and the marinas

we've
visited up here are all standard dock, which means a climb

during
low tide....we're still weighing our options.

I'm guessing they're more expensive than NC marinas.

Thanks, Mooron. Almost anything would be better than 2005.

Actually, we just moved off the boat and into a temporary apartment
until our house sells. Living aboard here would not be pleasant as
it was in North Carolina. The marinas we looked at had too many
problems, like being located next to the big container ship
terminals, or huge tide ranges with crappy docks. We will be moving
the boat closer, since she's 140 miles south right now and that's a
3 hour hike.
