get out of the harbor with 4'9" draft. This tells me that on an
average cruise if we decided to leave on any normal tide, I'd beat you
to the destination.

Face facts...you own dated junk. No way around it. It's funny of
course, but probably not to you. How old are you that you're trapped
with a starter boat like that? I'm guessing that you're somewhere
between 22 and 32. I might have gone for an S2 when I was that age and
not well educated about boats.
