I've been on quite a few S2 9.1s and have never seen any mildew. As
far as I know S2 used synthetic carpet and mildew does not grow on
synthetic matarials.

To bad you live in a place that is so boring you have to go out so
deep. Our shoreline is true wilderness here. There are few places
where you can get within 3 miles of shore and have more than 3' of
water.

Hey...Sloco is an idiot about EVERYTHING!

Mold and mildew grow in or on virtually every construction material
currently the growth of mold and mildew? made.This includes glass fiber
insulation,lumber,carpet,fabric,vinyl wall
coverings,paint,OSB,plywood,EIFS,siding,wallboard, ceiling panels and
brick,to name a few.Given the right conditions,virtually any building
material can be overwhelmed by mold.When a building material gets wet
and dirty,it becomes a target for mold and mildewgrowth.Even products
such as aluminum,steel and glass will support mold growth under the
right conditions.

As I said, we turned down S2's due to mildew and bad ports. In fact the
ports on the S2 are so awful that some owners have completley
re-engineered them. The 9.1 is about as fast as a Depress 30, quick,
but no match for my 35s5 boat for boat. It's a 100 times nicer for
cruising than the Depress 30.

While we've come to love our S2, the ports are a constant source of
worry. We spoke to other owners and most were in the same boat. The
ports are both thin and very poorly fastened so that leaks are a
certainty if you sail the boat hard. We saw the fix on the 8.6 posted
and it's quite involved. Anyone have a less complicated answer to this
problem. Our interior has taken a beating due to leaks, mostly on the
starboard side.


EXACTLY what we found on the two boats we rejected. One is still for
sale at City Island Yacht club and no one will buy it. But I'm glad he
likes his 8.1 for being small, shallow draft and slow. Those are great
qualities!

ego isnt tied to the size of my boat I decided against it.



Good move. I don't think a larger boat could help you. I think your
feelings of inferiority are more deeply rooted, probably related to
your younger years working at the asbestos plant.

cap'n Boobs pics of a 28' S2 has odd winders. Mine does not have the
forward one, instaed it simply has a normal opening port.
As far as window leaking, my boat is 24 yrs old and they have never
leaked but I have a theory: The windows on S2 boats owned by people
who live in Northern frozen hell leak because they get water 'tween the
lexan and cabin that forces them apart when it freezes.
I dont think my boat has much mildew but I am also immune to it and
immune to all forms of pollen too. Invisible mildew is possible but I
wouldnt notice it.
