I saw the movie in the 60's and loved it but forgot the name. Then, in
college a friend recalled the name. Now, 40 years later I finally got a
copy. It's just like I remembered.

I love those 50's sci fi flicks. My favorite is "Destination Moon".

Someday I'm going to make a b grade sci fi movie. In fact, I'm living one
right now!

Amen!

I love those 50's sci fi flicks. My favorite is "Destination Moon".

Directed by George Pal, who went on to make When World's Collide, The
Time Machine and War of the Worlds. Pal was also famous for his stop
motion Puppetoons which were done, in part, by carving wood figures for
each frame!
Destination Moon was also the first serious Sci fi film that attempted
to depict space travel without fantasy. Great flick!
Try....
It! The Terror From Beyond Space
The Green Slime (Released to compete with 2001!!!)
Conquest of Space (Another Pal classic)

My favorite Pal film is still The Naked Jungle with Heston taking on
army ants. I have the original poster for it as well.

Doug, have you read it? I have the novel issued when the movie was
released and my Heinlein collection is all hardcover and complete. My
copies of Tunnel in the Sky and Door into summer are autographed to me.
Don't mess with what you don't understand. Look how it ended up for you

Yeah, I bet.

Don't mess with what you don't understand.

Like what?

You never did explain why the name of the "Tartan 10 champ
skipper" you bought this claimed Beneteau 35s5 isn't on the
T-10 class register. You never did explain where & when you
sea trialed this boat, under spinnaker. You never did
explain why you don't seem to know how PHRF ratings work.

I suggest you stop trying to lie about things you clearly
don't understand.

Yep. It's a cool boat. I understand how you envy it, too bad
you're unlikely to ever have a boat that makes you happy.

going on?

I gave you his name and you were going to check to see if he was at
Fastnet. Of course he was, so you never said anything. I see trialed
the boat out of St. Petersburg twice. Want more pics of the boat? I
have plenty and you can check the EXIF to see that they came from my
D70 Nikon.
I know it kills you that I have this boat, Doug. I can't imagine what
it would be like to want a sailboat and end up with a powerboat....like
asking for mustard and getting ketchup? Yuk.

Why? I know quite well what they look like. There is one at
our marina... the owner has asked me to sail with him, in fact.

I know by personal experience there are at least three other
Heinlein readers among the NG regulars who will realize how
big a lying jackass you're making of yourself, Bubbles.
There are probably dozens of others reading this.

It's actually a VERY short story, quite simple. The whole backstory of
the wife by proxy was dreamt up by a clever screenwriter.

You can read the whole story he
http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/lvta.html

After seeing the movie I was quite shocked to read the source when I
was 11 or 12 years old. Naked Jungle was also by director Haskin who
had just done War of the Worlds. Jungle seems like an older movie in
many respects, especially in the scripting, but it's still a far better
written movie. Of course we can't forget Sir Cedrick Hardwick reading
the opening of HG's classic as War of the Worlds opens.
