This guy was found by another boat some hours later. That would be very scary. One reason to make sure you get acquainted with your companions on any such trip... that way the odds are higher they'd realize you were missing. DSK |

I heard on the radio yesterday that they were going to 'look into' cruise ship disappearances. Apparently, at least 12 times last year a cruise ship returned home with one less passenger than it left with. Scotty |

Those cruise ships are floating zoos, and the engineering plant is even scarier to me. Read 'Darker Than Amber' by John D. MacDonald... one of the Travis McGee series which is well worth while for anybody who likes boats... very plausible novel about a very profitable murder scheme, disposing of people by dropping them off cruise ships. I thought I read about some drunk who tried to pee off the side, then fell
in. No one noticed and he ended up swimming. Didn't die though. Maybe it was an urban myth. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com "DSK" wrote in message . .. They spread that rumor around so passengers don't pee off the
sides (especially from the upper decks). SV "Capt. JG" wrote in message ... I thought I read about some drunk who tried to pee off the side, then fell in. No one noticed and he ended up swimming. I believe there are lots of similar schemes/places around. There's an area in Colorado called the Uncompahgre National Forest where hunters come from all over the country every year to hunt elk. Locals refer to it as a place to take someone if you want to kill them and not get caught. My brother married a women who took him hunting 90 days after they were married and he wound up being murdered. |

I've always said that the middle of the ocean would be the best place to dump a body. Maybe that's why Lisa won't go sailing with me. Scotty |

Sorry, but that area is managed for trophy hunting only meaning very few
permits are given out each year. Ergo, few hunters compared to the rest of Colorado. Beautiful hunting country, btw. We hunted it this fall and my nephew took a 30+ inch mule deer and I blew two chances at very large bulls. Oh well, 8 years wait for another permit! Gordon "rgnmstr" wrote in message oups.com... Gordon, what exactly do you call "a very few" I was told by the Colorado States Attorney that thousands of people fly in from all over the US to hunt on the Uncompahgre Plateau every year. There are capsites every few hundred yards and the place covers hundreds of square miles. |

Why go to the Colorado States Attorney? What do they know?
Go to the Colorado fish and game and ask how many permits are given for unit 61. Unit 61 covers the whole western half of the plateau and when you apply the number of permits to square miles, you'll see how few hunters their are per square mile. As for campsites, any hunter may camp anywhere he can find a place to mark off the road thats level. I know of only one official campground near where we were. On second thought maybe it would be a good spot to dump a body. No one to find it! Gordon "rgnmstr" wrote in message oups.com... Why go to the Colorado States Attorney? What do they know?
They only investage shootings and murders on the plateau. They only have to prosecute murders and have to present facts to jurys that can't be shot down by defense attornies. Plus I would assume they talk to the fish and game people. |

And how many stiffs have they found in say the last 5 years on the

Gordon I really appreciate your calus terminology after I already mentioned that my brother was murdered up there. Although I was only concerned with one "stiff" my brother, I sat through his murderers 30 day trial and listened to facts presented by a number of expert witnesses so I think I know something about the area. I also know enough people have been murdered up there over the years that the place does have a reputation. You shoot somebody and it's damn near impossible to prove that it was anything other than a hunting accident. |
