What type would it be?

People tend to buy things that suit their personalities.

One thing I've noticed is some will complain about their wives, some will
shoot their dogs, **** and moan about their car, but nobody ever says
anything really bad about their boats. Why?

Yes and no... in this culture, people tend to buy things
that are marketed in ways that flatter their self-image.
Almost the same;

This is also true of religion! For example, I am a member of
the Church of Bob, a very rational choice because they offer

Gee, never heard anyone do much complaining about their wives/dogs/cars
here, but maybe I wasn't following closely enough. And for the most part we
seem to be happy with our choice of boat with one notable exception. If you
ask specific questions you might hear folks offer good criticism about what
they don't like about their boats.

We don't dare say anything bad about our boats lest Bubbles jump on it and
say, "See, XXXXX even admits his boat is a piece of crap."

Now over on rec.boats.cruising everyone ****es and moans about their
boats.

Nonsense. But then it really dependeds on what "really bad" means to
you relative to usage. In other words, it's far harder for a daily
driven car in NY to measure up compared to a less used luxury item like
a sailboat. Leave this group and actually use the sailboat for serious
travel and than changes.
