Rudder stock is epoxy corposite!
All lines and furler below deck!
35s5 fitted with new Dutchman system!
Counter tops are marble!
Halogen and LED lighting!
The swim ladder FOLDS flush into the platform!
Two zone AC and heat for aft and main cabin!
Bunks sized for adults over 7 feet long!

A pain in the ass to tune. On second thought that won't bother you.

All lines and furler below deck!

That "old" company Express Yachts did this 20 years ago. Big deal.

| But did you know...?
|
| The 35s5 has discontinous rod rigging!

Whoop-de-doo! Ever so practical.

| 35s5 deck and bulkheads are honeycomb to save weight!

In other words flimsy construction. Too cheap to do it right
with solid glass. The stanchions will tear right out of the deck
should some fat arse fall against the lifelines. The deck will
bounce you like a trampoline.

| Rudder stock is epoxy corposite!

Corposite? That's a new one on all of us. What ever it
is all it means is Beneteau is too cheap to use stainless
steel.

| All lines and furler below deck!

That it has wind-up sails is NOT something to
be proud of. Any enclosed lines are an accident
waiting to happen.

| 35s5 fitted with new Dutchman system!

They should call it a Lazyman system for that's
all the good Dutchman does. Just more lines for
windage, chafe and fouling.

| Counter tops are marble!

Excellent. Heavy marble. They go to the trouble to
use honeycomb on deck to save weight and they use
heavy marble counter tops. Bwahahahahahahahahaha!

| Halogen and LED lighting!

So does a Mac 26X if the owner shops at West Marine.

| The swim ladder FOLDS flush into the platform!

Whoop-de-doo! A sugar scoop transom actually needs
a swim ladder? What kind of a fat arse can't climb onto
the water level step of a sugar scoop transom? Chuck
the swim ladder and install a hot shower to rinse off
that LIS sewage.

| Two zone AC and heat for aft and main cabin!

Only good at the dock - double whoop-de-doo!
Besides, a candle would heat that cramped so-called
main cabin and an ice cube in front of a fan would
cool it.

| Bunks sized for adults over 7 feet long!

Is it a sailboat or is it a motel for the NBA?

| Headroom over 6'4!!!

Ya gotta love the extra windage of that high deck.

| Owners report easily outsailing their ratings!

Ratings for passage making? Do they give good
handicaps for those seven-foot bunks? That air
conditioner? Swim ladder? Sugar scoop transom
that turns a 31-footer into a 35-footer?

Next time get a real boat. But first you will have to
get your priorities straight. You pretending to be
a performance sailor is like Oprah Winfrey pretending
to be a ballerina.

Is this why you had to scour the country for one the could (possibly)
pass survey? Doesn't that give you a good feeling, knowing that if
used, they fall apart?

All lines and furler below deck!

So that the jib is a deck sweeper that gives no visibility from the
helm? And since the furler hole is right under the anchor roller,
doesn't mud from the anchor just fall into the furler? Of course,
you'll never actually use the anchor, will you?

35s5 fitted with new Dutchman system!
Counter tops are marble!

And this is an advantage? Why?

Halogen and LED lighting!

whoop!

The swim ladder FOLDS flush into the platform!
Two zone AC and heat for aft and main cabin!

Why? Haven't you figured out you can't use it under way?

Bunks sized for adults over 7 feet long!

You keep saying that, but in the drawing only one corner of the berth
is over 6'6". And neither "stateroom" has enough space to actually
stand up.

BTW, you should keep a fire extinguisher in the cabin, since the door
opens to the galley and you have no other way out. Our daughter's
cabin is in the same location, but she has a full sized escape hatch
over the bunk.

Which brings up another problem: you claimed 7 hatches but there are
only 2 deck hatches that can provide ventilation, and 4 are small side
portholes, and one opens into the cockpit, fer gawd's sake! That boat
will be stifling in the summer! No wonder you need A/C! Good luck
trying to sleep at anchor with one tiny hatch opening into the cockpit!

Headroom over 6'4!!!

But you only have about 3 sq. feet of floor space!

Owners report easily outsailing their ratings!

Isn't that a contradiction? Kind of like being too tall for your height?

Actually, Jeff...only one boat didn't pass a survey because someone had
dropped the mast on the deck and the repair leaked. The 35s5 is not
known to have any serious problems.

Jeff, I'm sorry you don't like the 35s5. Obviously other people do and
it won Boat of the Year when it was released. I've sailed two cats and
I just don't care for them. It doesn't feel like sailing.

I'd probably love the 35s5 if a doctor told me I could never sail more
than 10 miles from my slip.

Actually I gather the sales were rather small, all things considered.
If there were more of them around, you wouldn't have to go to
Florida to find one that hadn't fallen apart yet. And besides, it
wasn't *THE* boat of the year, it was the "best new small
racer/cruiser by a large advertiser." I've said many times its a step
up from a Hunter or Catalina. And that's the way you look at it,
since you keep comparing it to boats like that.

I've sailed two cats and
I just don't care for them.

Wow, that many? I've been on lots more that I didn't like. So, it
was a Gemini and what else?

It doesn't feel like sailing.

Well, I agree it doesn't lay over on its ear while dragging 3 tons of
lead through the water. Frankly, as a dinghy sailor I prefer going
flat and fast.

If you really want excitement on a cat you have to sail light and push
hard. I don't get to do that often with my family.

I admit in light air it doesn't have much feel to it. And if you need
spray in your face to have fun, a cat won't give you that.

On the other hand, I can take out a 470 or 505 or soling or R19
anytime I feel like "sailing."

Oops, Jeff. You keep getting busted. More than 400 hulls built.

Florida to find one that hadn't fallen apart yet.

There are three local to me and two are in good shape...just not the
creampuff with 20K worth of gear we found in Florida. But it's nice to
see you're desperate enough to make stuff up and still not make a
point.

And besides, it

Oops. I guess you're not familiar with the Paris Boat show. It's not
like our lame shows here, Jeff. Your ignorance seems boundless. The
35s5 won the the award at the Paris Boat show. Here Hunters win awards
and so do fat cats. Not there. Europeans like to sail.

I admit in light air it doesn't have much feel to it.

Yup. Yucka and no thanks to that. Why would I EVER want a boat with no
feel in light air?

On the other hand, I can take out a 470 or 505 or soling or R19

Yeah, you can tow one behind you, Jeff. Seriously. You've taken some
beating here. Mostly because you own a cat and that has little in
common with a 35s5, J35 or even an Express 30 or J24. Even Neal owns
more of a sailboat than you. These are "sailboats" Jeff. Most people
prefer them to Cats unless they have back problems and kids with back
problems.

"Epoxy composite" could be good or bad. Actually, if properly done, a
molded composite rudder post is stronger than SS. I'm not saying that
I'd trust Beneteau to do it, but it can be. And honeycomb core is
standard in airplane construction, are you saying the FAA gives
commercial type certifications to planes that are likely to fall apart??

and she really likes doing it.

Gemini and PDQ. I actually liked the Gemini better, but it was also
brand new. Both were dull to sail. We had better wind with the PDQ and
it was fast off the wind, but it just felt like nothing. We could have
been in a motorhome. Very little feel. Suzanne hated it, and my J24
