The Right Boat
 

Making a choice for the right boat is tough, but I do it better than
most. Consider the choice of the Beneteau 35s5 for a fun family boat on
the LIS.

1) Fast, fast cruising boat!
2) Light air capability better than most.
3) Clean decks, one of the biggest cockpits for 35'
4) Swim platform!
5) Draft of just under 5 feet...perfect for the LIS area!
6) Beautiful roomy interior!
7) enclosed aft cabin with room for people over 6 feet tall!
8) enclosed forward cabin with room for people over 6 feet tall!
9) Largest head ever in 35' boat with shower!
10) Excellent fit and finish exhibited everywhere!
11) Recent mylar sails!
12) Nearly new 19'000 BTU air conditioning!
13) Fantastic canvas package!
14) Largest cockpit/sail locker on a 35' boat EVER!

Some sample comments from the survey final page:

"Excellent bristol condition above average vessel. Wood and joinery
above average and appeared as new. The vessel condition reflects the
care of a conscientious crew. Estimated market value 67.500.00."

1.So the 19,000 BTU air conditioner will run:

a. When you are tied firmly to the dock and on shore power.

b. When the engine is running.

Looks like it will have a potential for a 100% duty cycle when you're
aboard!

Amen!

2. The swim platform:

a. Going for a swim in the water around New York City?

3. Largest sail locker:

a. Keep those plastic sails spanking new!

4. Value of $67,500:

a. Why didn't throw in another 70K$ and buy a larger boat? You can get a
decent piano for 67K$ but that isn't even near the entry fee for fine
yachting.

Anyway, congratulations on your boat. The most important thing is that you
are happy. I believe you are, and should be because 67K$ is a lot of money
to spend just to go online and troll people whose dollar price of
contentment is a lot less than yours but some how more fullfilling.

The most important thing is that you
are happy. I believe you are, and should be because 67K$ is a lot of
money
to spend just to go online and troll people whose dollar price of
contentment is a lot less than yours but some how more fullfilling.


If so, would they work soooo hard to make the claim? I do hope they're
happy. We didn't pay 67K. We paid quite a bit less. Maybe we won't like
the boat enough. I'll be honest about it all come spring...more than
you can say for the others here.

There you go. If you don't like it, get a better one. It may cost some
money, but the troll value is priceless!

Would you get a new one if the color is wrong?

You could buy two so you could compare them side by side and then sell the
one you don't like. Or keep both for two different purposes.

We're carefully looking into safety measures for him. We'll wait until
Spring to make final choices, but full time jacket with tether is
planned for starters. I may also add netting to the lifelines and his
cabin will be redone to keep from falling off the bunk.

Baby can crawl over a lee cloth. We're using part of a crib. We saw it
done on a friend's C&C 38.

Do they make Dockers for little ones?

Make sure the tether pulls from behind. If he is dragged behind the boat you
don't want water going into the face. Also make sure you can do child CPR.
You may want to install a carbon monoxide alarm in the area he will be in
below deck. He'll have a great time!
