Well, I awoke to a good 6" of snow on the ground here. We have had two or three weeks of 70's and 80's, sunshine, getting the boat ready, etc. But today is an indoors day! Strange weather, probably due to global cooling due to the work of evil liberals. -- Captain Lon All your base are belong to us. "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Morning to you Scott,
Back from my morning sail. Breeze quit about 10:00 AM ( For picky, picky Lon;- sorry about the extra 0) Made a cup of coffee and a cup of soup. Dog didn't get sick! Finally fired up the metal Genny and powered in. No complaints. Got out and home in time to check list and get ready for Sunday Dinner Ole Thom http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomsPage |
Take it easy on the Folgers.. the caffeine will take its toll.. a powerful drug that would be on the prescribed prescription list if it were discovered today. -- Longing to be closer to to the sun, the wind and the sea! You are lucky indeed.. sailing Here in Ottawa launch day is scheduled for 7 May.. 5 days of rain have been forecast for this area.. I will be picking fair days for the hull waxing and anti-fouling applications. -- Longing to be closer to to the sun, the wind and the sea! Do you wire wheel after using that? Or is that better than a wire
wheel? Scotty "Joe" wrote in message oups.com... The Dink.. Yes an air powered chipping hammer like this one: http://www.news.navy.mil/management/..._030121-N-6651 N-003.jpg Removes all rust! sounds like 12 people banging on iron skillets all at once. Joe |
It is better than a wire wheel, but I do go over it with a wheel to
make sure I have bright shiny steel, then feather the paint edges with a 100 grit sanding disk. After than apply Ends all Rust a Dupont rust converter similar to Ospho or Navel Jelly. After that 3 sprayed on coats of Primer, waiting till each coat dries. After that 2 thick coats of Paint. Today I was removing old paint with the neddle gun, in the area where the deck meets the bulwarks around the stern, it had just buildt up to thick in areas and needed removing, also spotting out the bulwarks in prep to paint all the decks and apply new non-skid. Wasent a planned job but it was soooo nice out today with no humidity which is rare in Houston I figured Id never get a beeter day to do this annoying job, This area is one of the hardest to get to due to the aft stays, the mizzen stay and handrails all pinning you against the stern cabin. It's one of those jobs you want perfect conditions so you do not have to do it again for 5-7 years. I'm finished working ...and your earlier thread convinced me to make a fresh pot of Folgers. Soon I will have to head out and put up the air compressor, spray rig, and tools, clean up the dock, wash the car, and then I have a couple hours of Work work I have to get done tonight for the AM. And I get to do a couple of Honey Dew projects.... Joe |
I use an air chisel with for the big stuff, then wire cup in a 7''
grinder. Sand blast the corners and brackets where the wheel can't get. 3 coats primer, 3 coats paint, from a spray gun.. I wonder if I could get a head ,like the one you showed, for my air chisel? -- Scotty, A Snark that actually gets sailed would be a better choice than any boat that bobspit uses for bragging on the Internet. How about One Pot a day? Folger's Columbian. Better than Orange Juice!
