If you mean client/server, I'd have to say that I have no need for that

its act together with IP stuff a lot faster than w9.x (which requires
interminable reboots and looks at the original CD to make the slightest

I'm just pleased as punch with XP Pro and it's inherent ability to command &
navigate LAN.
I found the stability to equal or excel any previous OS I've used. The
capacity of XP Pro to alter and accommodate a wide variety of protocols
lends to it's functionality if used by anyone with an inkling of
comprehension as to utilization of it's capability.

I'm just now negotiating codecs and copyright protection protocols that are
causing a worldwide panic..... **** those *******s... I paid for the DVD..
I should be allowed {and I am by law }to make a copy to use for personal
purposes. I've just loaded DVD Shrink.... we'll see who can do what!!
****in' copyright protection has gone overboard! **** those assholes!

It's not about speed Dave... it's about stability of the OS. Win98 is
glitchy!
Scotty will need at least 64megs of Ram to even run XP. 256megs is
recommended.

Most puters running Win 98 probably have neither the speed nor the memory
to
run XP at any decent speed. Based on Scotty's description of his use, both
a
hardware and a software upgrade are probably overkill. Unless there are
real
performance problems with his current setup, I wouldn't bother.

I'm certainly in favor of appropriate upgrades. Since I run voice
recognition, I need a reasonably fast puter with a decent amount of
memory.
But the bulk of users have far more horsepower than they need for their
typical tasks.

A computer is much like a boat in regards to upkeep and upgrades.

If you're running only a few programs, and they aren't very

generally have 10 or 11 programs open, most with multiple windows, and run

My laptop runs AutoCAD, Graphics Programs, Multimedia apps and must perform
when required. 256 megs of ram is cheap nowadays. OEM XP OS is also very
cheap.

purchased the components then assembled it. I upgrade select
