OT - Sunday Devotional : Repent before it's too late . . .

As a service to the group and as an adjunct to my Bible studies, I have decided to
add to my repertoire a Sunday Devotional so that one or more among us might see
the light and be saved. Today's topic concerns the evils of homosexuality and the
punishment for this sin.

God commanded:
"Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable."
-- Leviticus 18:22

God decreed:
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is
detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."
-- Leviticus 20:13.

God admonished:
"But if you will not listen to me and carry out these commands, and if you reject my
decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out my commands and so violate my
covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring upon you sudden terror, wasting
diseases, and fever that will destroy your sight and drain away your life."
-- Leviticus 26:14

Sudden terror? Consider the events of September 11, 2001.
Wasting disease? Consider AIDS.
Destroy your sight and drain away your life? Consider BSE (mad cow), Ebola virus,
Avian Flu, etc.

Heed God's words; obey His commands. Those men who engage in homosexual acts
rain destruction upon the entire Earth.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"It is my opinion that a man should not mince words
just to spare the sensibilities of the thin-skinned or
the ignorant." -- Capt. Neal
Neal,
When did Leviticus become God or even talk with God, as did Moses?
Your skill with the Bible is as lacking as your sailing skills. Both are
in need of honing
You are clueless, old man. Leviticus is the third book of the Bible,
just after Exodus.
Pathetic Earthlings! No one can save you now!
Ahh ... but what "God".
Go to sea and look into the sky some dark cloudless night. You will see
countless stars in such a display it may give you virtigo. Now consider that
some stars you see aren't there any more, long since burned out, while the
light from most has been traveling toward you since before Earth, let alone
man, began. Think about the power and majesty of any God that could have
created all this - and the tiny atoms - as well all working in synch. Pause
a moment ..... reflect on it.
Now, if you can, imagine this same all powerful, all knowing God hoofing
his way across an Earthly desert in the noonday sun on his way to check out
*rumors* that villages were being disobedient. Can your imagination stretch
farther? Then try to imagine some petty con man inviting "God" into his
tent for a veal sandwich and if that doesn't get a laugh imagine "God"
promising this dude all the land between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers
if - hold your breath - he will cut off the end of his penis! And all his
sons' penises! Now imagine that "God" lied! Despite following orders Abie
doesn't get his land and his descendents have to sell themselves as slaves
in Egypt. Quite a story, right?
That is the "God" Capt. Neal is talking about.
Neal is his own god, pathetic though he may be.
Well Vito, I'm very impressed. You obviously have the ability to understand
how God thinks.
You should share your knowledge with the world! The rest of us are just
insignificant, and fairly unintelligent inhabitants of a small planet,
orbiting an average star, in an average galaxy that contains 1000 billion
stars, in a universe that contains more than 100 billion galaxies. We
cannot even start to comprehend the thoughts of the Creator.... and we
wouldn't presume to understand His motives.
As you obviously have a greater understanding of God than the rest of us,
perhaps you can answer a couple of simple questions.
Why is Pioneer not accelerating at the speed that Einstein's Theories
predict?
Is Hawkings correct? Could the Universe have created itself
spontaeneously(sp?)?
Duh! Have you not read up on the latest finding with regards to dark matter.
This dark matter has gravity that works just the opposite of how the gravity we
know works. In other words, dark matter gravity repulses. Dark matter is
causing the very fabric of the universe to expand at a rate far faster than
the speed of light although light in the fabric of the universe only travels
at the speed of light. A paradox? Hardly. But it does explain the slower than
predicted acceleration of Pioneer. Pioneer is covering more distance than it
seems from our vantage point because the fabric of the universe is expanding
faster than the redshift of objects in it indicate.
I have attempted to make Hawking et. al. aware of this via e-mail but they don't
answer. They only listen to mathematical equations and I flunked calculus.
Vito,
Why of God that created us in his image. The God that created the
Universe in 6 days and rested on the Sabbath. The God that put the Sun
and the Stars ( Take you look at) in our sky. The God that created night
and day. DON"T YOU KNOW NOTHING (GRIN)
Ask Neal how the Universe can be expanding when it was completed and God
rested. He does have a habit of speaking out of both sides of his mouth,
as the mood strikes him.
I don't pretend to understand "God". You do.
I look into the Universe and I see something that is beyond my
comprehension. You look into the night sky and see that God is illogical.
I wish that I possessed your clarity of vision.
Tell us, How did the Universe come into existence? Is there only one
Universe? Is Hawkings correct?
Your reading comprehension needs improvement. I agree that any being(s)
capable of managing the universe are beyond human comprehension. That's why
it is a bit silly to think that such a creature would be hoofing across a
desert checking out rumors, let alone conning a petty grifter into
mutilating his penis. Some local warlord maybe, who liked to be called
"god", but the creator of the universe? Not likely! Yet that belief is the
foundation of Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Go figure.
Are you not human? Can you not see that you presume that you are capable of
deciding what should be logical for God?
You and I are genetically indisguishable from Stone Age man. We are barely
intelligent enough to figure out that a bit of flint is useful.
Moot. The notion that an all-knowing god would have to check rumors is
itself illogical. Almost a illogical as a creator who gave us a foreskin
then had a small group of us cut it off.
Well, actually, I did have some tiny part in it, and in some even more
complicated machinery.
