I think you underestimate the strength of an aluminum boom slot. It would
take an act of congress to pull a slug or bolt rope out of it. Your clew strap is only cosmetic, I'm afraid. There is no way to tie it tightly enough for it to take any meaningful strain off the slot. CN "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Neal, The Clew strap isn't for the sail!! It is FOR THE BOOM. A boom that was meant to take a bolt rope footed main is compromised badly with a free footed, two point vertical down hold. The Clew strap takes the strain away from the BOOM SLOT. A single slug helps (?) but for the price of a small piece of line or a strap, that slides on the boom and lets the outhaul do the job it was intended to do is my choice. Hope you never need it. Better one person can stay warm/cool and dry to concentrate on the overall picture. otn The picture on the television screen while watching that VCR nudie movie? I know what you so-called professionals are doing in the pilot house and most of the time it is anything but piloting. CN |

We use DVD's now so we can play them on the bridge computer, next to the integrated chartplotter, radar, GPS display. You're getting old, Neal. Took you 2 days to come up with that lame response. otn |
