Ahoy, Ole Thom! Mainsail report!

Hong Kong sail report.

My Hong Kong mainsail has stood the test of time and it has not bagged out
yet after a year's use. In the 25-30 knot close-hauled test last week, the sail
performed admirably. It powers to weather and causes far less heel than did
the old, bagged-out North main that it replaced. The leech does not flap in
the gusts and I have not even had to tighten the leech line like I had to do on
the old north sail which resulted in a slight cupping.

The clew cringle, even though it is not reinforced with webbing like your
sail shows no sign of strain because of the multiple layers and bolt rope-in-
slide construction with the sliding slug providing the main downward force.

The superior design of the shelf-footed sail allows for very little upward
strain on the clew of the sail and the outhaul is mostly that - an outhaul
whereas on your sail the outhaul is also a downhaul. I feel my Hong Kong
sail is well worth the price.

Ok Neal,

Good enough! If you're satisfied I'm satisfied for you.

Happy sailing,

Ole Thom
