Stupid law, but then again, I'd vote for it.

Yes, but while the 1st ammendment gets the full support
of liberals, they constantly try to destroy the 2nd. Perhaps the conservatives should chip away at the 1st every time the liberals chip away at the 2nd. Now that is even funnier.
Chances are more likely that the 2nd will fall first, and then the 1st. With all due respect Oz,
1. I think we've paid the French back and then some. 2. Their hatred for England was their real motivation to help us 200+ years ago. Scout OzOne wrote in message ... No, of course not. Lonny "Well-Versed In History" owes his freedom (as

But it doesn't change the facts. BTW it's been cool for us ex-colonials to diss the French since day 1. For example see what Mark Twain has to say about them. DSK |

Most schools now have a 'non-droopy pants' rule.

We were already colonies at that time... or do you mean the American colonies would have lost what little self-governance they already had? Then the French came to your rescue..... It's already been pointed out, the French had their own score to settle and we just piggybacked. Seems pretty obvious to me that the American colonies would not have remained subject to English rule for very long anyway. Too stubborn, too many foreigners, and too much religious resentment against the Church of England. If Washington and Franklin hadn't managed to slither out from under, the individual colonies would have required more and more troops to occupy & pacify... England would have gone bankrupt trying to hold on. The individual colonies would have declared independence and fought English troops, and probably each other, and not become a unified country for another 50 years if then. Meanwhile, then Napoleon would have held on to the Louisiana territories, and remained Emperor for another ten years, maybe more, maybe even established a dynasty. You can play wolrd history as you like from there. Regards Doug King |
