Pull your dacks up - or face $50 fine
10:17 AM February 10

Failing to pull up your pants in Virginia could cost you a $US50 ($65)
fine if legislators in the southern US state have their way.

The House chamber in Virginia's General Assembly has voted 60-34 in
favour of the so-called "droopy drawers" Bill to penalise people who
wear their pants too low, exposing their boxer shorts or G-strings in
a "lewd or indecent manner".

"Underwear is called underwear for a reason," said Republican
politician John Reid.

"Most of us would identify this as the coarsening of society."

No, of course not. Lonny "Well-Versed In History" owes his freedom (as

It is conceivable that the First Amendment may someday owe its perpetuation

Yes, but while the 1st ammendment gets the full support
of liberals, they constantly try to destroy the 2nd.

Perhaps the conservatives should chip away at the 1st
every time the liberals chip away at the 2nd.

Now that is even funnier.

Agreed on both points. But it doesn't change the facts.

BTW it's been cool for us ex-colonials to diss the French since day 1.
For example see what Mark Twain has to say about them.

We were already colonies at that time... or do you mean the American
colonies would have lost what little self-governance they already had?

Then the French came to your rescue.....

It's already been pointed out, the French had their own score to settle
and we just piggybacked.

Seems pretty obvious to me that the American colonies would not have
remained subject to English rule for very long anyway. Too stubborn, too
many foreigners, and too much religious resentment against the Church of
England. If Washington and Franklin hadn't managed to slither out from
under, the individual colonies would have required more and more troops
to occupy & pacify... England would have gone bankrupt trying to hold
on. The individual colonies would have declared independence and fought
English troops, and probably each other, and not become a unified
country for another 50 years if then.

Meanwhile, then Napoleon would have held on to the Louisiana
territories, and remained Emperor for another ten years, maybe more,
maybe even established a dynasty. You can play wolrd history as you like
from there.

Regards
Doug King
