So...

A strapping Frenchman did it in a bit over 72 days.

Then a wee lassie just did it in a bit over 71 days.

How come you yanks don't seem to be able to pull this sort of thing off?

Sailing isn't very big in the US, never really has been. Always been viewed
as somewhat of an elitist pursuit.

Ever here of the America's Cup?

We just have more important things to do right now.

When we attempt it.. we will shave at least a week off that time.

Yeah, I've heard of it. Haven't seen it lately, though.

Maybe we got lucky and some radical Maori beat it to hell again.

I thought you were spending tens of millions to try an wrest it back?

When you say "you," please exclude me. I think the AC is a waste of money,
time, resources, and has degenerated into a money/legal ****ing contest that
has amazingly little to do with sailboat racing.

The Americas Cup is dead. Long live, er . . . rather, good.

Not me. I wish.

But that's part of the problem.... spending tens of millions on a
hundred million dollar project is not going to achieve the desired result!

You wait till BMW Oracle hits the water and hopefully performs in the

Larry will find someone to skipper his boat, no doubt. And no doubt he'll
interfere until that skipper quits and he's forced to find another. The
ongoing saga of the farce otherwise known as the Americas Cup.

Wally,

We and the Russians have both men and women go around the globe in less
than 24 hours. How come you Frencies and Limeies can't do the same
thing?
