So, just how much can one get for a kidney south of the border?

You blew it. You should have gone down to Mexico and advertised you

had
a kidney to sell. They would have paid you plenty for it and the
operation would have been free. They would have only found out later
that it was defective but you'd have been off sailing your new

expensive
yacht purchased with your bad kidney.

Hi John
Sorry dude I'm not a sailor like you are -- I'm one of those wanna

be's
what the heck why lie about it. I got real sick and the dang

doctor took
all our money we had saved -- kidney removal. If you remember I

was a
power-boater wanting to learn sailing that's how I found this

group. Now I
just log on once in an while and tease a little and to say hi.

less than 80 words :P

patch the holes in the bottom of your sailboats lol

So, in 100 words or less, tell us all about your last great

sailing
experience of over 1 week or 500 nm. Making it real easy, it

doesn't have
to
be consecutive miles.

Mu aunt broke her hip and waited 6 weeks for surgery....it depends on the
definition of "emergency"...

If she lived in Canada she would have died waiting on the list
for the operation.

Nope... emergency surgery always is immediate and takes priority.
Elective surgery, no life threatening medical attention is placed to a
wait list.

CM

Then she would have been placed on that waiting list. One kidney is good
enough to keep person alive and healthy. Other than controlling the
infection,
the bad kidney posed no real threat.

katysails February 6th 05 03:36 PM

and visa versa....I've had a few rounds with your system...it stinks...

Yup... if it wasn't life threatening.. she would be placed on a list...
but a six month wait would have left her savings intact. If an emergency
had occurred during the wait... she would have been tended to immediately.
It's got it's problems... but nobody here would trade it for a system like
the one you have in the USA.

Where is that? In the US hospitals MUST treat if the individual is life
threatened or has a serious condition....there are many programs that offer
assistance, there are well-baby clinics run by the counties and immunization
programs here...problem is, many don't know how to access what is
available...or won't because it's "charity"....

Right, you can't cjoose your doctor..that's rassuring...you can have that
here, too, at a considerable price difference in your insurance rates...you
get waht you pay for...and BTW...you do pay for your medical treatment, just
not upfront...your tac structure includes it in its system...

It all sounds good doesn't it?

My friend had a heart attack in the US, yess it was life threatening
so he got the treatment and hospitalisation he required.
IIRC he was presented with a total bill of some hundreds of thousands
of dollars....enough to give someone a heart attack.

Here, it would have been totally free unless he opted for a private
hopital and chose a doctor

Yep, I pay 2% on my tax as does every Oz to support the system.
and get a 20% cut if I chose to privately insure. Saves the Govt
building new public hospitals I guess.

That is what is causing the big debate here in Canada.... a 2 Tier Medical
System that would allow the wealthy or privileged to buy insurance. The
majority are against a 2 tier system... although the government would like
to impose one. One thing though... we can indeed choose our Doctor here in
Canada.
