Joe On a scale of 1-5 for "touristy", I'd have to rate the BVI as a 2 at most. It isn't a direct flight from the mainland US afaik, excepting possibly Miami. It is a funkier version of the USVI with few of the attendant problems, after all, it was never a part of the US. The first time we went there we arrived late at night and extremely hungry, we went to a little chicken shack in the center of Road Town and never felt unsafe, and that chicken was good! You can really do what you want there, do the typical tourist bit like Soper's Hole, or go to little backwaters like Trellis Bay. Joe You can do the full tourist bit at places like Soper's Hole, which is the ferry terminus from the USVI on the west end of Tortola, or you can go to a place like Little Harbor on Jost Van Dyke, if you eat at Abe's you have to make reservations, not because it's hard to get a table but because they only prepare the meals on request.
