I'm so jealous...... can you send some of that snow over here???
I'm getting the feeling you guys are hogging all my winter snow time! I've even phoned the Canadian Meteorological Bureau and registered a formal complaint about the USA stealing our snow!!! CM "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... Mooron, That's enough!! Take your Canadian NE Wind out of the Fraser Valley and stop with the Cold Air over our mild, damp air from the Pacific. I won't go sailing. That's a picture of my Dog's run taken at Dawn, this morning She's ****ed off about this snow and its MY FAULT Note the arrows missing from the photo. The number is in the right hand corner because I'm capturing the picture from the camera's "Slide Show" That's the # in memory and I don't mind it Thought I show you. CM,
We get a snow like that in the picture about maybe every five years. That 5" just about snow bounds the NW. It's more than the fat kid with the cardboard can handle. We're supposed to get another 4" tonight and again on Sat Nite. When that Canadian Northeaster blows out of the Fraser River Valley, it creates havoc with our mild, humid weather Dog and I are trying to decide on Shoo-Fly or Raisin Pie for tomorrow Boat will have to take care of itself Ole Thom |

You can't do anything about it Thom... you might as well assume a positive
outlook and enjoy winter time activities.... hot chocolate and a nice window to look out and see the kids playing is fun.... my favourite is to get a nice spot near a slippery intersection and have a good laugh at the accidents when the cars slide into each other. You can make some extra money as an eye witness as well! CM "Thom Stewart" wrote in message ... CM, We get a snow like that in the picture about maybe every five years. Lucky Dawg!! .... I luv it when that happens!!
[Well okay not the computer stuff...] I decided long ago that as a sailor it would be smart to be as prepared on the hard as I would be on the water...... Great Chance to check out the Oil Lamps and hand crank Radio. Light up the fireplace or wood stove and sit back smug that you've placed a fresh water supply away just for such an occasion. We've got 8 brass oil lamps... paraffin oil and 6 battery operated hand and table lights. Kindlin' and split dry logs are always near the fireplace. We have 6 months supply of canned food and basic like flour, rice, potatoes etc in the cold room. I've got 4 cords of wood split and tarped outside. The Chook Coop is insulted and has a small woodstove in it. You know Thom... I can find any flashlight in the house in total darkness by memory. I know how many steps to take and when to turn and how many stairs there are. Same as my boat. I can make it from my basement bedroom or den to the main floor entrance in 11 seconds in total darkness. Same goes for my weapons and gear. You know..... that would be a good topic to present.... as sailors... how many of us take what we've learned from sailing ashore and incorporate it at home to allow self sufficiency in case of an emergency? I'm willing to bet you are one of those ill prepared that phone the power company whining within 5 seconds of a power fluctuation..... yet try and pass themselves off as "environmentally aware" !! Cm,
I'm with you on that EMC I took a different route in some places. I had a 3000 watt Gasoline Generator but as the years roll by, I had to much trouble starting it. That use to give me heat, a couple of lights and the TV. I replaced the Big Generator with a small 300 watt, wired into the breaker box a stand by line into the heater circuit and my den outlets, ( That is where my fire place is) If I don't get power back in a couple of hours, I pull the main breaker and back feed the circuit box. I use 6 volt lanterns (3) for the house. Kitchen (Gas Stove) Bathroom, and Den. Can walk them around easy. Battery operated Multi band radio and flashlights in every room. Get about 8 to 10 hours running time on the Genny. I let it cool well before re-filling it and start it again with all the load removed, It beats the hell out of Fireplace and oil lamps but that is my opinion. Ole Thom |
