Don't Shake hands with Capt. Poop
On the Phew-EE II.
He's a nice guy but you never know whats on thoses purple gloves he sports. Anyone else have to deal with a pumpoff boat? What do they charge you? Here it is 25 a mo. with a visit every other week as long as you keep it under 50 gallons a visit. Joe |
Nope. Our marina has two pump out stations that are free to use.

Joe AFAIK, everyone in these parts charges $5 per pump out, no limit on the amount you can pump. DIY at my marina, others have the attendant at the gas dock do it for you. John Cairns |

Further east folks don't worry much, given that there are 10 foot tides and easy access to open water. I'm sure Most of the places I visit to the south (Vineyard Haven, Edgartown, etc) have free pumpouts. On our recent ICW trip south I was appalled at the number of "broken" pumpouts - it was the rule, not the exception. When every pumpout in a town is "out of order" or "the person who runs it isn't in today" you get the feeling the locals don't care if they live in a sewer. |

Any public pumpout service that charges is double-dipping. A tip to the operator is appropriate. Eisboch |
We go to a pump out dock...it's 5 bucks a flushout....

But I have to admit I've never seen a fee collected in MA. |
"Horvath" wrote you can use the pump out for free. We pay for it. Then it's not really free, is it? SV |

Isabel wiped out a lot of pump outs in the Chesapeake Bay area.

This was before Isabel. Actually the Chesapeake was a bit better the
other areas, though we did get the "out of order" routine in Baltimore. - The marina even had a "free pumpout with fuel fill" sign! South Carolina and Georgia were the worst.
