I love to see the number flash.
 

I use Outlook Express and I really enjoy seeing the number of
unread posts flash and then lower by several indicating that
my filters have just deleted several posts by the Gay One.

I like it even better knowing that if the Gay One starts to
change his name and address to avoid kill files again that I
can report him a second time after he has been warned by
Supernews and perhaps he will be tossed off his news server
for good this time.
