Out of the charter business!

I hope it works out for you. If you spend a little time
sailing, you will have less time to plague this group with
your liberal politics of the wimpy.

Well, it's final.

Aftera few excellent seasons and a bumper summer leading up to and
following the Athens Olympics, the two boats in Greece went up for
sale.
A fax from my agent in Greece has just notified me that we have
exchanged contracts on both this evening Greece time.

All in all, a very profitable venture allowing me to make an offer on
a beautiful 50' high performance cruising cat for use here in Oz and
the Sth Pacific.......Fingers crossed!

Oz1...of the 3 twins.

I welcome you to crackerbox palace,We've been expecting you.

Congrats on the sail Oz, now tell us about the cat. We need a few more on this group
who appreciate a cat, can't have Jeoff doing all the work.

Cheers

Oz,

Are you planning on using the 50' Cat for crewed charters?

Marty, I fell in love with the fast passage making of multis many

Sure, you need to pick reasonably flat water for ultimate comfort but
the good one handle seas well.
This one is a shade under 50', 4 double berths and a sweet yacht.
Hopefully, she'll be mine in another few weeks then based in Syd
she'll be doing crewed passages north, making 15kts without trying and
well inexcess of 20 when hitting her straps.

Fingers are still crossed :-)

Good luck with it. A 50 footer should be easily big enough to be comfy
without overloading and about as fast as can be. You're going to bring
along some skis, I assume ;)

Oz,

Who are you going to put out on Skiis,to go trolling for Great Whites??

Done a bit of research on this design.
It started design life as a 40 footer and had the hulls stretched to
provide better load carrying and upwind performance in the fresh.

How does it compare to Chris White's Skyhook series? I saw one of these
a few weeks ago- nice boat. They're almost handsome and if stretched out
to 50' I could see it becoming quite nice looking.

Design displacement it under 6500kg and she'll carry 200kg easily, so
she's a good cruiser as well as a rocket when unladen.

I assume that was a typo and you meant 2,000kg
;)

Skis are in the garage....I'll bring emout if we are successful.

That'll be a lot of fun!

Sounds like a ball. Do they still make Hinkleman gear for cats or is that passé?

Cheers

If they accept to quick, that means you offered too much!

I may be mistaken about which ones are called "Skyhooks," I had the
impression it was a series of cockpit-in-front catamarans but there's at
least one tri. Anyway, I saw one getting ready to go from Norfolk
Virginia down to the BVI and took a brief tour... nice boat. A little
bulky & angular looking to my eye but unless the owners are blatant
liars (and please note I'm not accusing them) it's a darn fast boat.
Pricey but it's a lot for the money.

An interesting monohull... click on the "40" but right now there are
only two 39' prototypes sailing...

Sorry Marty, refresh my memory..still on my first cup of morning

It was a piece of hardware designed to release the main sheet if the heel exceeded 15 degrees or so, supposed to let
you sleep better when single handing?

OK, I've mostly used and seen used, the Aeromax system
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/aeromax/aeromaxus.htm.

It's easily adjusted or disabled when racing, reliable and easy to
test.

That's the stuff, only much more sophisticated, (probably more reliable, Hinkleman was pendulum activated and
could do weird things IIRC), thanks for the link.

Cheers
Marty
