John Cairns Because Ford USA is aware that it'd hurt the local market :-) My only complaint i the interior which looks a lot like it was designed by Tandy I haven't driven one as yet, but had a peek at my local dealer last weekend. Reports by testers rate it pretty high. Oz1...of the 3 twins. I welcome you to crackerbox palace,We've been expecting you. Not bad, twin plate clutch, Brembo brakes, beats the **** out of a Focus! Cheers Marty |

Cheers Marty Not one of these Foci: http://www.ford-v8-focus.com/ Going to estimate you should be able to do a conversion for well under 25k, including the cost of the donor vehicle. They had a test a while back, Focus V8 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo, it was a tie. The turnkey version of the Focus they used for the test was listed at 85k IIRC. http://www.fordracingparts.com/home/home.asp Looks like Ford wants a piece of this pie. John Cairns |

Nice looking car, you have to give these guys credit, they've been building some nice looking cars for a while now and their quality is finally up to snuff (almost) Plus, they derive the added benefit of being able to use some of Daimler's latest and greatest technology on their US built vehicles. http://www.fast-autos.net/dodge/dodgemagnumrt.html These guys are saying this engine was derived from the 426, more impressive is the claimed fuel economy #'s, but I'd be surprised if you could reach these in real world conditions. Well it does have variable displacement, but I'll bet if you drive it like it was meant to be driven (hard) you won't come even close to those figures. Cheers Marty |

Cheers Marty Yeah, I worked for a research(consumer) firm way back when, got involved in doing mileage testing for FoMoCo, they were trying to get better fuel economy #'s for the Escort. You had to drive like a typical old person, veeeeeeeeery slow acceleration from stops, etc. Nothing at all like the average person drives. My ZX3 is rated at 25/33, even though I have a lead foot it consistently averages around 25 mpg. in city driving, it will get around 25 on the interstate averaging 80-90 mph, who knows, maybe the EPA is using more realistic driving conditions to derive the numbers?
