Good Boat Names that are SONGS!

I've been listening to MUDBONE by Santana and decided it meets
my standards for boat names that are songs. This one is an instrumental.
Disk 3 "Spirit" of a triple CD.

1. It's obtuse, and good for confusing anyone who doesn't know what it
means.

2. It has a special meaning.

3. It is just plain weird enough that no one is like to duplicate it on the
transom
of a boat, and...

4. It is one of the best pieces of music I know. Good for getting the
whole crew
doing the petroglyph dance on the foredeck.

I think I'll name my next boat [that is big enough to dance on ] "MUDBONE"

Anyone got any other good boat names that are songs?

1 point for a good one. 1 lash for a lame one.

Bart

Wouldn't this imply navigational incompetence?

Our former boat was named after an aria in an opera by the same
name..."Rusulka"...which in Russian and Hungarian means "water witch".....

I really like Santana but have not heard this.

One thing to keep in mind about a boat name, it must be easy to say &
hear over the radio. I think MUDBONE would qualify.

At the risk of a lash:

Blue Note
Canto (name of a Mason 43 owned by some friends of ours)
Capella (also the name of a star IIRC)
Arpeggio
Dol Sea (a stupid pun, I personally would never use this)
La Forza Destino (a very successful Gary Mull maxi of the 1970s)

Fresh Breezes- Doug King

There is a boat here on the lake named Sanatana.

Saw a boat "Parrothead" with hailing port, "One Particular Harbor."

Others seen:

Dream Weaver (Gary Wright)--lame
Why Don't We Get Drunk (and Screw) Buffett--lame
Offshore Bank (of Bad Habits) Buffett--lame
La Danse de la Vie (Beausoliel)
Jolie Blon (traditional Cajun)

My suggestions:

Infinite Tamboura (Rusted Root)
Dm Rant #147 (Fonn Mhor)

Max

Thom Stewart October 24th 04 05:55 PM

When I was rigging my boat for single handing I was very tempted to name
it, "ONE ALONE" from the Desert Song by Sig Romberg. "Pneuma" won out
though. I liked the name for an air powered vessel. Still like "ONE
ALONE"

Ole Thom

Scott Vernon October 24th 04 07:25 PM

''Stairway to Heaven'' would be fitting for my boat, but too long.

''Lola'' for Jon's boat.

We have a racer on this end of the lake called "Comfortably Numb", cool
enough name, some nautical content. If I'm not mistaken there is also a
racer in the area called "Night Moves", the songwriter Bob Seger is a racer.

My grandmother was born in Budapest...she told stories of the rusulka when
we were kids....boundaries in Eastern Europe have never been stable and
folklore is passed around between all the different states...just because
you don't know that particular folklore doesn't mean it's not so, it means
that you're just answering out of your own ignorance....get lost, Buzi....

IIRC his old boat was called "Night Moves," his current one (although I
think it's for sale) is a Santa Cruz 70 called "Lightning."

People do come and go from Buda..and from Pest (especially since a largish
river divides them...) and the borders of Hungary hae changed many many
