From a Sydney newspaper...

One of the best points of the many that John Kerry made in his debate
with George Jr, was that, when writing of the first Gulf War, George
Snr revealed he had not sent troops into Baghdad back in '91 for the
very good reason that they would soon find themselves as occupiers in
a hostile environment with no obvious exit.
George Jnr stonewalled in response.
And whatever else you say about Kerry and Bush, nothing can change one
central fact.
For men of passion of their generation, there were two great causes
they could have embraced in their formative adult years:
to go to the Vietnam War or to protest against it.

Kerry did both, Bush did neither

Kerry did both,

Good training for his candidacy. He's taken both sides of virtually every
subsequent issue to date. Certainly no reason to stop after Vietnam.

Certainly Bush could learn from him about duty and honor.
