great circle loop

Just finished the great circle loop from lake superior back to lake
superior, around 6000 miles and a winter without snow. Did it in a Downeast
32. If anyone who would like to do this trip has any questions I would be
happy to answer any questions I can. .

Did you do the Erie or the Finger Lakes/Hudson as part of the route? Also
did you do Mississippi all the way down or use the Tennesee/Tombigbee? Or
did you do the St. Lawrence all the way and down the coast. My questions
a If you did the Erie what time of year, how was water depth and any
bridge height problems. For any portion comment on going through locks and
are their any that can't be done singlehanding. Did you do any side trips
for example coming out of Hudson and Sandy Hook up to Connecticutt and then
back down the coast?

Thanks

M.

You sailed out of Superior and then came back? Being a Michigan sailor, I
ask the question: WHY????????

Katy,

He gave the reason. A Winter without snow. 12 Months of sailing. No time
on the Hard.

I would think that would be reason enough for a Mich. Sailor!

My wife and I are planning to make this trip. There is certainly no lack
of documentation for it. My biggest question would be... what was your
favorite part of the trip? Your least favorite?

You're not getting it Thom.....once you've left here, why would you come
back? You've never sailed Superior...it is not the most pleasant
experience....they have an even shorter sailing season that we do, more
storms, and the lake never gets warm enough for a sane person to swim in
it....hypothermia in July is not my idea of a good time....
