Guys, I think more thought needs to be given to what cause Tides (Moon) and rotation of the earth. It isn't just a simple hydraulic solution. Now a question; 1 point (to be awarded by Donal): If the Earth makes one rotation in 24 hours and the Moon rotates around the Earth making one revolution, why does high tide time vary daily? Ole Thom Well Thom, the moon makes one revolution around the earth in 28 days, always keeping the same side facing the earth, thus the time of the overhead position of the moon moves by about about 1/2 hour per day.
