Certainly can Gill. The offshore reef out of Apia Harbor in Samoa was
literally killed by a hurricane. We dove the reef in 97 (I think it had
been ten years since the storm) and signs of life were evident but sparse.
Slow and long time healing but eventually, absent other outside factors,
they do come back.
