Absolutely a Fantastic Sail this weekend! Best one of the Year!!!
The young Lady is a convert to sailing for sure! What a really nice time and great company! A bit of everything but rain. Strong winds to start.... degrading to gusting and then to light. The boat was performing beautifully..... as was the Captain. Got some ocean time in [20 miles offshore] and saw Leatherback Turtles, Whales, Sharks, Harbour Porpoises. Sailed the Southeast & Western Shore Islands. Over 300 of them available..... negotiating Islands and passages to find some beautiful beaches. Lobster dinners, Fresh Scallops, Mackerel. I cooked up a wide variety of seafood that she didn't even know was edible. Urchin Rowe, Periwinkles and Dulce. Pictures?... Nope! Memories?... you bet! Unlike Bart's boat.... my "Cedar Bucket" is lined with Burmese Teak and a full door. :-) Nobody had to wet their pants..... then again we weren't wearing much for clothing anyway! She loved it... even the start with the gale force winds. I've moved Overproof to her alternate location beside the Bay Landing Bar in Prospect Bay. It's only 3 miles from the house now on a mooring. Slow final trip in 10 kt winds on the ocean at an trip average of only 4.8 kts over 47 miles on a reach [50 degrees]..... 10 miles of those in sheltered bays with maybe 5 kts of wind. Total damages.... $210 in booze and $19 in food expenses. Engine run time at 3 hours. Well as of tomorrow I'm gone for a while. See you all when I return in 6 weeks.... in time for haul-out. :-( Have fun and do not behave..... I certainly didn't!! :-) Wally de Moray... you have the helm! ;-) Capt. Mooron - S.V.Overproof [Treat Your Crew with Disdain... and other Vessels with Distaste] |

Locate Peggy's Cove... Halifax , Nova Scotia.
Now go 20 miles South, Southeast. About a 10 hour sail out and back. An Easy sail from East Ironbound Island [ Aprox. 10 miles from Mahone Bay.] on the Southeast Shore just past Big Tanncook Island. Shave south of Pearl Island and you are into swells.... keep sailing.... it won't take long before you are out of sight of land. You'll hit Ocean seas just East of Ironbound. That's where the whales are. CM |
