Hey Joe...you're giving accolades to a guy that was planning to run off into

With the valiant exceptions of a few, notably Bart Senior, Thom and Katy
(and a few others so don't feel slighted I just picked on those of us

who
have been around the longest) the majority of .asa has denigrated into

a
pale and for the most part useless comparison of it's glory days. The
sailing content is vastly overshadowed by insipid political commentary

which
in itself is of no merit.

Some yes indeed do. Yet this is a very important election. Even the
wise ol thom who is best at holding his tounge has put his 2 cents in
the discussions.

Have you forgotten how Capt Neal... thru his great nautical skills
single took credit for swinging Floridas vote. He carried on for
months touting W.

PLEASE..Between Bush and the Unibombers worship.. disquised and
sailing threads Neal would have been invisiable.

Bart does a good job of holding his finger in
the dike but I fear the dike has ceased to exist around his finger.

Well the election will be over soon..Bush will be President...and we
can all get back to the serious world of Sailing.

Especially when any thread is routinely hijacked by the fringe loonies

who
vie for the unattainable goal 'group leadership?'

Your talking bout Bob right?

It takes more than
quantity to be a leader especially in a free society (does the word
unmoderated ring a bell?) For the majority of the spam propaganda posts
it's just Neal wannabes. He knew when to push a button or ring chimes or
zing in a barbed conversation starting content but the majority of it

was
always about sailing. And you ain't Neal. BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Recuerde SFO!

I'm sorry, but this can't be accurate. Well, maybe it is... I mean
I just can't picture Bart holding his finger in a dyke.

She's knock the sh*t out of him.

ASA may be dead, but Gilligan's not!

I've been exceptionally busy for almost the last two years, but for you dear
Katy, I'll return with all the monkeys too. I miss all my ASA friends and
fell out of touch with a few. This week I'm off to exude my manliness by
hunting North American big game with archery equipment at extreme altitudes!
In the fresh snow! Manly!! After that I'll take a rest by climbing some
large peak.

I've even been out sailing! Unbelievable - especially considering the
drought and my sailing abilities!

So fret not Katy, Gilligan's here and I'm wearing styrofoam shoes. Get the
Crisco ready!

Doug,

The Crapton (Neal) was all those thing you've said BUT by God you
remembered them.

The group is pretty much a creation of his and without him we' re
struggling for a personality.

Michael seem to like Bart's way, I've kind of been following your lead.
Nutsy gets to much, "I am" into his style. We are in a state of change
right now. I'm hoping that after the Nov elections we will settle down
and re-develop a Style.

I have great faith in the un-monitored formate and a loose leadership,
with a sense of humor is needed.

Let's face it, we are a group of sailors in a Bull Session as in a Bar.
What we need is a Bartender as a leader

You needn't go all snotty, Scotty,
Sneering at the taddypole,
Landlocked in his lowly pond,
Just the ocean shore patrol...
Little wonder, now and then,
He poses as a cockerel--
That sure as hell beats wasting time
In reading Scotty doggerel.

Ah!
Things dead, long dead, see! how they rise again!
--Why, why keep silence all these years,
When, on this newsgroup, which he never wrote,
The heckles were your heckles?

Tadpole:
Why, then, that noble silence,--kept so long--
Broken to-day for the first time--why?

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man- There are only
four things certain since Social Progress began:-
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,

And the burnt Fool's bandaged finger goes wobbling back to the Fire;
And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins

When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!
