Congratulations on your finish in the trans-Erie race. My newspaper
finally printed the results.

Pathetic Earthlings! No one can save you now!

Thanks. The only real satisfaction was catching up "Jazzy" and beating the
"rented" J33. One of these days I'm going to do one of these in style, on a
boat like this:

It seems that you have as good a chance of winning in a fast boat as a slow
one, plus no sail changes, no sail rolling up or folding, I think the most
they might have done is pack a spinnaker.

Looks like the comfortable way to travel, but I'd say that Contessa 43
is more like style. That's a really pretty boat.

Sure. That's what handicapping is all about.

Actually, in a rising breeze you've a much better chance of winning in a
slow boat than a fast one. Or in flukey conditions where you can watch
the boats ahead and tell which way *not* to go ;)

What'd they do, play cards??

The Contessa is a beauty, almost as pretty as the Frers that won in A.

What I meant to say, slow boats have as good a chance of winning overall as
fast, last year a boat in the high 100's won overall.

Take showers, watch movies, sleep, eat, etc. Someone told me that we had to
work as hard as everyone else, but I suspect this depends on the type of
boat you're sailing on, I might be wrong but I don't think the folks on the
LH worked as hard as we did.
