Actually neither man is an idiot. .... I'm not so sure. It's axiomatic that people will not elect anyone much smarter than they are. This may be because they find his/her solutions to issues hard to understand or that he/she seems to be an elitist. Worse yet, the same 'dumbing down' we've seen in schools for several decades now affects the electorite. Thus anyone who appears smarter than a village idiot will be rejected. One solution is to offer a real idiot, but one wiser party hacks can control. It's working for the GOP. The proof comes when the ballon goes up. Consider Bush's reaction to 9-11. Does he leap to the helm and take command of the situation? NO! He finishes reading to the kindergarten then allows his SS protectors to whisk him to safety for a week while Chainey and Rumsfield handled the crisis. That tells me the good old boys from Halliburton are really in charge. But I wonder - did Bush really drool and say "What! Me worry?" before going back to reading to the kids? |
