Sailing into the dock tighten
OK Guys,
Here goes Ole Thom rushing in where angel fear to tread. Bart; I have an up wind slip off about a 40ft waterway. I pussy foot down the waterway. Spilling air until I'm below 2knts. I turn into my slip about 1/2 boat length an line up for straight in. After the turn, I just about abandon the helm (Neutral Helm) and steer with the sail. Now Bart, Here is the part for you. I tie up Strd.side. I man handle the sail. I've already dropped the main in the Lazy Jacks, If I need to get closer to the dock I push the head sail to windward. This bring me closer while stopping my headway. If to close I tighten the sheet to sail a couple of feet then back wind the sails to a stop. I have fenders mounted on my dock, and I leave the docking lines on the dock. The stern docking line is left where I can hook it with the boat hook and slip it on the cleat. I did this when I was single handing. The trick I learned from my female crew. GO SLOW. By the time I'm in the slip I'm stopped. If I'm stopped to soon, I can grab the docking line with the boat hook and pull myself in. If I'm going to fast (wind on the stern) I dropped the idling motor into reverse. And now, the Raw Water Pump Impeller! When you install the new impeller make sure that the side you put back is just touching the impeller. This usually means a thin paper gasket. Most of these pumps can't take a cork gasket, To much clearance creating pump slippage and over heating. Enough. Ole Thom |

The impeller is fine. Drat! well if your strainer is not clogged then your heat exchanger may be, Did you check the woodriff key in the impeller shaft? Did you crank the engine and see of the impellor turned? Did you open the seacock to the strainer? Break the line between the suction and the strainer to see if you have a clog?
