We were out again today. A little lighter than yeaterday at times but still a
beautiful day for August. I only wish I had spent last night at anchor
somewhere.

On 09 Aug 2004 04:52:14 GMT, something compelled
(SAIL LOCO), to say:

We were out again today.

Us too.

It was the first time my girlfriend had ever been out on a
sailboat. I neglected to tell her about heeling, my bad, but she
got used to it in short order, and after a couple of hours she
was helping with the sail trim. On the downwind run back to the
marina she took the helm. We had one accidental jibe, but I get
those too, and nothing broke and nobody got hurt.

I need a new pair of winches and some new cleats to go with them.
The thirty-eight year old original equipment looks cool, but
newer stuff works better. But it was a beautiful cloudless day,
the power boaters were being considerate, and *nobody* on my boat
discussed the upcoming elections.

yep, same here.
my big week turned into a series of daysails, but I'm still lovin' it.

some heeling and the occasional accidental jibe usually helps religion to
win out over politics - that and the threat of an unscheduled swim.

We also finally had a weekend where it did not rain and did not blow like
snot out of the east....only downside was that Lake MI is still so cold that
once you leave the channel, it's sweatshirt time...in August....and noone's
swimming in the big lake...we're wondering that with the late September
weather we've been having if this is precipitating into a September with
snow and ice...

We anchored in Still Pond Sat. night. My favorite spot on the Bay. The
temp. was PERFECT. 888 million stars were out, BEAUTIFUL! And the steaks
were delicious.
Wind was great on Sunday till about 1830 when it flat died.
