Do you know why people don't race gerbils?

They're too hard to get out of Gere.

You believe all sorts of urban legends, don't you, Bart?

Anyway, here's the straight deal on Gere and gerbils - yes, it's a
myth, but the articles or not for the squeamish:

(BTW, your joke's so old it's eligible to vote)

No I don't believe it. Never-the-less I despise
Richard Gere. Did you hear what he said after
911? He will never be welcome in the New
York area again.

Truthfully, Gere spoke about compassion and so forth
and to forget vengeance. I have the tape I'll have to watch
it again. I disagree with Gere.

The man is a devout Buddhist and spoke of compassion. And for this you have to
make him the object of the crudest possible "joke". You are one sick puppy,
Bart.

Bart Senior August 6th 04 04:02 AM

OT Joke

I think Gere is a Hindu. I'm a Buddist.

Nothing sick about it. What is sick is Gere's attitude is the
attitude of a loser and a quitter.

Lets set the stage. Gere stupidly talked about
compassion in front of a crowd entirely made up of
people who had just lost relatives and many friends
to a brutal cowardly act of terrorism. This was a
benefit concert for the families of policemen and
fire fighters, and the husbands, wives, and children,
victims of the terrorist attacks of 911. And, those
serving that survived.

I'd call what Gere said in that venue grossly insensitive and
rude. These people were and are entitled to vengence. I
liken it to the man who raped and killed my innocent 13 year
old niece. I don't want to hear about compassion, I want her
killer dead, and as quickly as possible. If you want to talk
about compassion, find someone else to preach to.

This points to the major differences between liberals and
conservatives. Liberals lay down and die, conservatives
stand up and fight. This was a crowd of fighters, not a bunch
of lame, guilty liberals.

If Gere can dish is out, he can take it too. It should be
no problem for him to take it since he preaches compassion.

Regarding the joke, it's funny, and it's fitting. No one believes
it's true anyway.

It certainly reflect how many people, myself included, feel about
Richard Gere. If people like him (Kerry) run out country, we
will all die.

So, what you're saying is that it's ok to hate blindly rather
than have compassion for anyone. Thanks for clarifying.

We have no idea what you are, Bart. You certainly aren't a Buddhist; you don't

Unless, off course, you're really claiming you worship Budweiser.

If that's true, then what does Hotei drink??

BTW for those unfamiliar with Shinto, the monk Hotei was a traveler who
spread wisdom and has been elevated to god status, and is associated
with happiness & plenty

They have already nearly conquered Europe.

Keep an eye on Spain. This is a country that has
been invaded many times in the past. It, along with
Israel are priority targets of Islamic forces.

Have you ever played Risk? You attack at your
borders. Consider all Islamic countries as one
nation. And remember, the group that controls
the middle east tends to win the game.

How about that for a divine joke? The game
"Risk" has real world relevance.

Bart you must be smokin' better Bud than me.......!!!!

You started this mess.... yes Your country did start it! You put Osama in
power to combat the Russians... now your ill thought out plan has backfired
and you have managed to stumble forward with continued lack of perspective
to arrive were you are.

You gave them more of a cause to rally around than any other reason. Your
idiot of a president with his "crusade" comment! You consistently fail to
deliver on promises and fail to meet your objectives.

You endanger any friendly nation associating with you.... your "friends"
and coalition partners are abandoning you in droves! The terrorists are
gaining ground and the situation is worsening!

You seem to have the might but not the intellect to accomplish the goals of
peace.

In short... you are acting like collective Dumbasses!

Truly Pathetic and I expect better!

That's because it doesn't have planes or ICBMs.

And remember, the group that controls

The Middle East is one of the *hardest* territories to hold - it borders too
many other countries and is thus open to attack from all sides. Of the
contnents, Australasia is the easiest to hold (1 border), followed by South
America (2 borders). Africa and North America next (3 borders each). Europe
(4 borders) and Asia (5 borders) are invariably a bloodbath.

Of the countless games of Risk I've played, I never saw anyone make gains
out of trying to control the Middle East unless it was part of a successful
wider strategy, namely, to capture and hold Asia for long enough to start
earning reinforcements. Hard to do because those in Africa and Europe know
what Asia is worth and will keep trashing the Middle East to prevent Asia
from consolidating.

I go for Africa and then the Middle East and then reinforce
until I can take So America, and then nibble away at Europe
or N. America.

Africa is somewhat easy to hold and offers an extra army over
So American or Australia which seems to be an edge over
those two continents. Moving from East Africa to the Middle
East keeps the number of territories needed to defend the same.

I think going to Asia is insane. It is too big, has too may borders
and always fails.

Have you tried putting two game boards together? It makes the
game more interesting. Then one of the Asia's is a good option.
