Default Racing Question #29

How do you want to set your spinnaker pole

more control? [1 pt]

I'll attempt a better answer...

Setting the pole low will tend to flatten it from top to bottom. This will
reduce the airflow over the top and diminish the drive - stall the sail.

It also strikes me that, when running or on a broad reach, the pole could be
set forward (obtuse angle between wind direction and pole), so that more of
its area is in the shadow of the main.
