Cetol -WHY?
 

WHY DOES MY CETOL TURN ORANGE!???!!!

Is it the underlying wood? Did I not clean it enough? This is the third year
in a row and I'm getting angry! I want that nice rich "yellowish" luster
from varnish. But NO! This CETOL turns vomit stain orange!!!!

HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a left wing plan to ruin the woodwork on any republician's boat. No,
really there are 3 types of Cetol, matt, gloss and clear, though clear is
hard to find. The matt and gloss have a coloring agent. West had a similar
product with no color, you might try that.

Thank you kind sir. I prefer clear stains on all wood, it tends to yellow
less. I wasn't aware of clear Cetol. I owe you a beer! God bless you and

It has orange pigments, naturally. The mfr. chose that color to most
closely approximate the color of clean unstained teak. Cetol Marine Light
has less such pigment, and some other preparations have no apparent
pigments, such as West Marine's Woodpro and Epifanes' Gloss and Matte Wood
Finish. The Epifanes products require no sanding between coats and are
compatible with varnish, so you can sand old varnish in good condition and
put 'em right over.

What a bunch of idiots. You don't use cetol or you'd know that it doesn't turn
orange anymore; hasn't in years.
Alien's sole was done with cetrol. Two coats of regular cetol, 3 coats of
gloss. No orange pigment.

products like cetol you wouldn't have an orange boat....

Cetol does not turn orange anymore. Hasn't in a long time.

If you sand to 220 you get a pretty good result from the Cetol rather than
the "vomit stain orange".
