I made a webshots album to store photos of the boat I'm crewing on...

Some photos of this evening's race have just been added to the previous

Good grief, can't you crew on a bigger boat? Sailing a variety of boats is a
great teacher. Tomorrow I get to sail a Cal28 and Sunday i'll be out on the
Tayana 48DS, if she's ready.

Perhaps, but I'm having a blast on this one and haven't looked.

I'm glad you agree that our spinnaker flying is better than your sorry

I think the pole was fairly far forward, starboard side. So, almost a dead
run.

Why no luff curl?

It's a Frankenstein photo - the shots were mostly taken over 20 seconds or
so (some later), so maybe there was a bit of curl but I didn't catch it. I
was lying on the foredeck looking straight up, so I'm not sure if any curl
would obvious from that position (I'm 'inside' the sail). The idea was to
show Boobsie that it exists and that we can get it to draw, whereas his
spinny photo only shows existence and no draw.

Right on. :-) I'm getting a little cheapo digicam tomorrow (I borrowed one
for this evening), so there should be more to come. It's a little keyring
jobbie for 15 quid - takes 20 photos.

That looks like a lot of fun. Good job pasting together the spinnaker
pic... hard to tell what's up with it, which means it can't be too bad.
Of course my first suggestion is always to try raising the pole a bit.

2nd by 17 seconds? Pretty good, what rating system do you use?

I'll see if I can do a better one when I get the new toy digicam. Tonight's
was done by pasting some rather disparate bits of photo together, but I have
a stitching program than can do a better job if I make a proper array of
shots.

Open handicap using Portsmouth Yardstick, modified with a rolling handicap
system used by the club.

At least it had enough air to be in with a chance of curling.

Kwel.... I use MicroGrafix. I've stitched a panorama with 7 35 mm shots on
a 22mm Nikon AF on my NikonF4. That was just so damn neat! It was a long
lake way up in the Arctic... filled with landlocked Arctic Char. I'll have
to post it to webshots.

Do - I'd like to see it. Here's the first panorama I tried with the Ixus...

http://cara.yachtsea.com/Sites/Huly_...anorama_01.jpg

It's a bunch of 640x480 shots with the camera held vertically.

Excellent...... You'd love this MicroGraphix... no dilution between shots
and even, full matrix rendering. You'll end up with full res shots... but
they'll be stitched and assembled into a neat package with even lines.

All you do is pick the X's & O's for the seam lines.

Yup, the Canon software does that as well - drag and drop the overlaps. On
that first one, I didn't know the seams could be fine-tuned. Is MicroGraphix
a commercial package, or a shareware/freebie?

Oh my. There must be a crew out there that has the strength to haul
something heavier than 10lb fishing line, but will Bob find them? I just
don't know!

Unfortunately not available anymore.....
Corel bought them out and incorporates some of the features.... but I'm not
a Corel fan and hardly use their applications.

Never had much to do with their software - last I saw was Corel Draw a good
10 years ago, but the computer barely had the power to run it. I thought it
was just the ticket for that community newsletter stuff...
