Bringing HOOT back from 20 years of neglect

I took a cue from John and put up a photo album of the work I
did on HOOT last year.

No. I've never done a Transpac. I could easily find work
bringing boats back from one--not nearly as much fun as going
the other way. It was tough finding a ride downwind the whole
way.

What do you think of my HOOT project? I spent weeks just
repairing the trailer, not to mention all the other work.

I still have more work planned for it next year when I get some
free time. I've sailed it several times this year, but put it back on
the trailer last week. I've been cleaning the hull--black streak
remover, and debating whether to buff it out and paste wax it, or
simply throw a quick liquid wax coating on it. I'd like to strip
and repaint it, and redo the decks next year, so a fancy wax
job doesn't do much good n the long term.

A friend at the yard just offered me several decent Etchells
spinnakers today. That will put me up to six! I need to hunt
up some wind and see how many I can blow apart this year!

It's a real pretty boat, what does it draw, is it difficult to sail, do you
know it's phrf? I used the 3M restorer last season and it worked very well,
but I couldn't use it with the power buffer, had to do it by hand. Maybe if
I used a right angle grinder instead?

Nice looking little boat.
What all that white stuff on the ground?
