Breaker 19 Scotty Got ya ears on?

Hey Scotty someone gave me a quote to truck this boat from Seattle to
Hoston of 10,700. He said because of the beam of 14.5 inches he would
need a escort car.

http://cgi.govliquidation.com/auction/view?id=357987

I thinks he might be full of crap, a buddy here in the marina had one
just like it shipped here from VA. last month for only 5,000 and fuel
prices havent risen that fast.

Your a trucker right? Is is nuts or what?

Who should I call for a fair deal?

Thanks,

Joe

With a beam of 14.5 inches, I'd use FedEx.

Ok, yes, I'm being a smart ass.

Puuleease don't talk like that. Seattle to Houston is 2500 miles, so no,
$10,700 doesn't sound too out of line. Does that include loading/unloading?
You should be able to find cheaper. Call all the boat haulers, and get
quotes. Every state has it's own rules, but generally, over 13'6'' wide
needs one escort, and maybe 14'5'' requires two. I'm not familiar with west
of the Miss. Couldn't you load that on a regular flat bed? If so, the rate
would drop in half.

includes loading, not unloading.

You should use a sunscreen Scotty. Or a hat, or both.

over 4 dollars a mile.

The escort adds $1-$1.30 per mile. A line haul of $3 per mile for an
oversize load is about normal. I assume that's including permits, which
some outfits charge $65 per state. Did they mention a fuel surcharge?

At 9' H you'd at least need a drop deck (3' high) . So finding a cheap flat
bed is out.

Jeeeeezzzzeeee do they send a jar a vasaline with the bill?

The boat in current condition is only worth 20K.

Did they mention a fuel surcharge?

Dont know, after he said 10,700 I kinda of zoned him out.

Well some guy came thru the marina the other day and stopped to talk.
He found while in the carriabean that he had melonomia, skin cancer.
It spred to all his limpnoids, neck, spine and he went thru hell
(surgery & kemo) and had some nasty looking scars. He convinced me to
go visit a dermotoligist and have a few small moles on my back checked
out. He said it started on him as just an itchy spot on his neck. He
had to quit crusing and spend a very large amout of his savings
fighting the cancer. Growing up in Texas I can not remember the number
of times Ive been sun burned. Now days I try to keep covered as much
as I can.

that would be extra.

I'm leaving for Ohio soon, 515 miles, $2000, not wide, no escorts. From my
side of the fence, it doesn't seem like enough. :o
