They call it a "spun ceramic" which basically means it is fiberglass... a special kind of fiberglass made for hi temp and hi R rating instead of tensile strength. But then, most boat building fiberglass is made to the specs for eelctrical insulation. That's why S-glass is different stuff, more costly. I was going to use the cheap stuff from JC Whitney but they didn't know the temp rating of it. So I splurged on more pricey stuff that is definitely rated above the needed service temp.
