This is a rather lame troll. Its hard to find any PHRF data for the 26x. Its
not even listed in New England, Long Island, Detroit, or Northern California. Pretty strange for "the world's most popular sailboat." The only listings I've seen are for 286, 300 and 320, and these were for small inland fleets. It isn't the rating that makes it hard to compete, its finishing the race before the committee goes home that's the problem. So how about a link, or even a quote from your alleged "news release"? "Jim Cate" wrote in message ... I noticed a recent news release to the effect that the PHRF for the Mac 26x has recently been lowered from 235 to 135! Does anyone have any information or verification of this? As understood, some of the crews racing the Mac 26x have put their boats on a plane, and by doing so, out classed the competition and messed up the rating system for the rest of us! This would mean that the Mac 26x would be considered faster than the Beneteau 32, Aleron 28, Catalina 36, Catalina 34, Catalina 30, Hunter 34, J-24 or Island Packet 40, making it almost impossible for Mac 26 owners to compete in multi-class ratings. Does anyone have any further info regarding this rating change? Jim Cate |
