What, the cops? Get real - they *are* the criminal element.

'fraid not Pete, it's the Lebs and Arabs that are the crims.

Yeah, them too. Haven't you been following the Victorian police dramas
recently?

Ya know, when I was living in Arizona, I used to get hit on by beggars
all the time around the university. They were polite, which was a wise
thing in a place where carrying a gun is well accepted, but they were
still beggars. Often they were begging outside shops with 'Help Wanted'
signs in the windows.

I never met anyone of Hispanic appearance begging, but there were an
awful lot working in the shops doing the minimum wage jobs.

Understand this is even more pronounced in California. When you call
Aussies scum, I consider the source.

BTW, Oz, when I was working in the NT back in the early 80's, I used to
carry a Ruger Security 6 with 4" barrel (croc defence, ya know). No
probs hitting floating cans & old fishing floats 30+ m behind the boat,
it used to be a regular activity.

That would be pretty good shooting. I have one of those, IMHO it's the
best utility grade revolver.

Lotta practice. The fishing floats were the 8" dia polystyrene ones so
hitting them wasn't all that hard. Beer cans are more of a challenge.

I've always liked Ruger guns, Mini-14 excepted as it wouldn't hold its
point of aim. OTOH their Old Army was a superb bit of gear. You could
buy them over the counter in Victoria at one stage without a licence
(skip mandatory Aust gun confiscation thread) so we did. Never heard of
one being used in any criminal activity - not real concealable - but
they got restricted anyway. Lot of fun on country properties, we used
to go rabbit hunting with them for a challenge. Long gone, alas, in a
burglary, one of the many that the police never solved.

What the hell, boats are more entertaining these days. I managed to
break 3 pieces of wood trying to replace my 12' daysailer gunnels on
the weekend, might have to build some form of steamer or find some
better wood. CCA treated pine isn't exactly traditional, but it won't
rot out in a hurry either. Plenty of hardwoods about but I'd need a
steamer for them too.

Oz knows I'm joking. How can dislike people who have a bunch of roos.
