The cables look great but the thimbles on all of my stays need replacing.
Any suggestions on removing nicopress and swag fittings?

I would think that if the fittings were shot the cables would be as well.
Another thing is that the swage fittings are put on with tremendous pressure
so the wire inside them is likely mangled beyond reuse. Get busy with a
hacksaw and let us know how it goes!

I've usually just replaced all the rigging when some parts show serious wear.
If this is really "nicropress" the cost may not be that high. You may be able
to use the longer cable for shorter stays, and effectively rebuild everything
only having to replace 1 or 2 stays. Also, you can shorten a stay and add a
toggle at the end, or a longer turnbuckle.

But I'm rather skeptical about removing a swage and using the wire underneath.
