LIS boating to end?

It will if no one speaks up!

http://www.windchecklis.com/htm/item1.htm

Looking at the scale of the project, it's hard to imagine it ever getting off
the ground, let alone in the water.

Looks like the general tactic is to propose something
overwhelming, and using that to arbitrate and get approval for a
scaled down version. The scaled down versions are still ruinous to the
Sound.

I think the enviromentalists will kick into gear on this one. Even up that far
there has been heavy damage to sea life due to "accidental" dumping. This type
of farming often effects other populations as well, so it won't be an easy
battle to win with the areas still steeped in heavy recovery.
I expect they'll manage some what they propose on a drastically smaller scale
and sailing will be effected very little.

Well, compared to the size of L.I. Sound it's not all that big, 522 acres, less than a square
mile. Unless of course they lay it out as a long skinny line of traps; in which case a single
CC 32 motoring at 6.5 kts should be able to make quite a mess going back and forth through the
line!

They are urging people to help "Save the
Bluff Point Oyster"

Well....at least that's pretty funny! I'll send the page to my sailing friends
and my father (he's a retired naturalist) and see what they make of it.

They are proposing them in
harbors all along the coastline. Your house is next.

What about other comercial boaters? I don't see that they can get away with it
on any significant scale.

Well in that case it's time to rally the troops! Convince Jane Fonda that
oysters are sentient beings and should not be raised in cages, next thing you
know you wont be able to move in the Sound for all the tree huggers and PETA
protesters!

All kidding aside it shouldn't be to hard to get this sort of thing stopped on
environmental grounds, wasn't it in that area that a recently laid underwater
power cable was not allowed to be energized, (until the big black out last
summer any way)?

Up here, in Pinko Canada, you wouldn't get to the environmental hearing with
this, the Coast Guard is really touchy when anyone wants to do something that
interferes with navigation. The community on an island near mine wanted to build
a single lane bridge over a relatively minor channel that carried no commercial
traffic; the local sailing club said that they didn't want to go the other way around the
island, Coasties said, "You can build your bridge, but it has to have a clearance
of 180 feet"! I guess they figured somebody might sail the USS Constitution up
the channel.

I'm sure that over the years I've ****ed off some weaklings like you
to the point that I was "reported" to my ISP. Fact is, I've never once
heard from my ISP. They have rules, and I follow them. According to a
friend whop works for my ISP, when they get stupid, unfounded
complaints, they tend to make a note of who sent them, and they
completely disregard future complaints from that source.

Your mother does squat thrusts on tree stumps.

Please report me!

Bobsprit should dump LameOL and get a better ISP.

Do not worry BS,

No one is stupid enough to eat oysters raised of LIS except NYers.

Oysters are filter feeders and they will taste like dead people,
garbage, sewage, ect and will make any person dumb enough to shuck and
eat one sick or dead.

Even if approved the venture will be a big failure.
